    Composition:

    Devyasil rootstocks and roots contain essential oil (including sesquiterpene lactones), inulin, mucus and other biologically active substances.

    Description:

    Pieces of rhizomes and roots of various shapes passing through a sieve with apertures measuring 7 mm. Color grayish-brown, yellowish-white, yellowish-gray. The scent is fragrant. The taste of the water extract is spicy, bitter.

    R.05   Drugs used for cough and colds

    Pharmacodynamics:

    Infusion of rhizomes and roots of elecampane exerts an expectorant effect.

    Indications:

    Applied in adults and children over 12 years as an expectorant for diseases of the upper respiratory tract.

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to the drug, kidney disease, pregnancy, lactation period, children's age (up to 12 years).

    Dosing and Administration:

    About 12-16 g (2 tablespoons) of raw materials are placed in enameled dishes, pour 200 ml (1 glass) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and heat in a boiling water bath for 30 minutes, cool for 10 minutes at room temperature, filter, remaining raw materials squeeze out. The volume of the resulting broth is brought to 200 ml with boiled water;

    Take inside 1/2 glass 2-3 times a day. The course of treatment is 2 weeks.

    It is recommended to stir up the broth before use.

    Side effects:

    Possible allergic reactions, heartburn, abdominal pain.
