    Composition:

    Devyasil rhizomes and roots contain an essential oil consisting of a mixture of sesquiterpene lactones, gelenin, alanthol and proaselenium; polysaccharides (inulin), saponins, mucus and other biologically active substances.

    Description:

    Pieces of roots and rhizomes of various shapes passing through a sieve with apertures measuring 7 mm. Color grayish-brown, yellowish-white, yellowish-gray.

    The scent is fragrant. The taste of the water extract is spicy, bitter.

    R.05   Drugs used for cough and colds

    Pharmacodynamics:Decoction of roots and rhizomes of elecampane exerts an expectorant effect.
    Indications:

    Applied in adults and children over 12 years as an expectorant for inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract.

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to the drug, kidney disease, pregnancy, lactation, children under 12 years.

    Dosing and Administration:

    About 16 g (2 tablespoons) of roots and rhizomes are placed in enamel ware, pour 200 ml (1 glass) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and insist on a boiling water bath for 30 minutes, cool at room temperature for 10 minutes, filter, squeeze out. The volume of the resulting broth is brought to 200 ml with boiled water.

    Take inside in a warm form for 1/2 cup 2-3 times a day for 1 hour before meals. The course of treatment is 2 weeks.

    It is recommended to stir up the broth before use.

    Side effects:

    Possible allergic reactions, heartburn, increased pain in the abdomen.
