    Composition:

    For 1 g of the drug:

    active ingredients - dioxomethyltetrahydropyrimidine (methyluracil) 40 mg, chloramphenicol - 7.5 mg;

    Excipients - macrogol-1500 - 190.5 mg, macrogol-400 - 762 mg.

    Description:

    Ointment is white or white with a yellowish hue.

    Pharmacodynamics:

    Combined drug for topical application, has anti-inflammatory (dehydrating) and antimicrobial effect, is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms (staphylococci, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli). Easily penetrates into the tissues without damage to biological membranes, stimulates regeneration processes. In the presence of pus and necrotic masses, antibacterial action persists.

    Indications:

    Purulent wounds (incl.infected with mixed microflora) in the first (purulent-necrotic) phase of the wound process.

    Contraindications:Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug; Children under 1 year of age (in newborns, the biotransformation of chloramphenicol takes place more slowly than in adults).
    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Use during pregnancy is possible only if the benefit to the mother exceeds the risk to the fetus.

    During lactation, either stop using the drug or breast-feeding.
    Dosing and Administration:

    Locally. The preparation is impregnated with sterile gauze wipes, which loosely fill the wound. Possible introduction into the purulent cavity through the catheter (drainage tube) with a syringe. In this case, the ointment is preheated to 35-36 ° C. Dressings are performed daily, once a day, until the wound is completely cleared of purulent necrotic masses. At large wound surfaces, the daily dose of ointment in terms of chloramphenicol should not exceed 3 g. The duration of treatment depends on the severity and course of the disease.

    Side effects:

    Allergic reactions (skin rashes).

    Overdose:

    No cases of overdose of Levomekol® ointment were reported.

    Interaction:Cases of interaction or incompatibility with other drugs are not described.
