Pharmacodynamics:Lidocaine by chemical structure belongs to the derivatives of acetanilide and has a pronounced local anesthetic property. The local anesthetic effect is due to the inhibition of nerve conduction by blocking the sodium channels in nerve endings and nerve fibers. The anesthetic effect of lidocaine develops 5-10 minutes after installation into the conjunctival sac, the duration of action is 60 to 120 minutes.

Pharmacokinetics:

The maximum concentration (C_m_Oh) of lidocaine in the blood plasma - 1,5-5 μg / ml; half-life (T_1/2) - 1.6 hours Metabolised in the liver by microsomal oxidase by dealkylation to monoethylglycine and xylid. The latter has anesthetic and toxic properties. Approximately 75% of the xylid is excreted in the urine.In the metabolism of lidocaine, para-aminobenzoic acid is not formed, so that it does not possess an antisulfanilamide action.

Indications:

Used to anesthetize before carrying out:

- measurement of intraocular pressure (tonometry);

- gonioscopy;

- diagnostic scrapings of the conjunctiva;

- short-term surgical interventions on the cornea and conjunctiva (including the extraction of foreign bodies and stitches from the cornea and conjunctiva);

- when preparing for ophthalmologic operations.

Contraindications:Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Carefully:Age to 18 years.

Pregnancy and lactation:During pregnancy and lactation, the drug should be used only if the benefit to the mother exceeds the possible risk to the fetus and the baby.

Dosing and Administration:Buried in the conjunctival bag for 1 to 2 drops (but not more than 2-3 drops) before the test or surgery.

Side effects:Local reactions: a feeling of slight burning, which disappears as the anesthetic effect develops; allergic reactions: rarely - skin rash, itching; hyperemia of the mucous membranes.

Overdose:Currently, cases of drug overdose lidocaine (when instilled in a conjunctival sac) was not reported. In case of an overdose, discontinue the administration of lidocaine.

Interaction:Norepinephrine and other local alpha-adrenomimetics due to vasoconstriction reduce the absorption of lidocaine into the systemic circulation, prolong and intensify its action.

Form release / dosage:Eye drops 2%.

Packaging:1.5 ml, 2 ml or 5 ml in a tube of dropper polymer. 1, 2, 4, 5, 10 tubes with IV instructions are placed in a pack of cardboard. 5 ml or 10 ml into the bottle-dropper polymer.
