    Indications:Cerebral edema, increased intracranial pressure in renal or renal and hepatic insufficiency, epileptic status, acute attack of glaucoma, operations with extracorporeal circulation, acute renal (with preserved renal filtration function) and liver failure, posttransfusion complications caused by incompatible blood, acute poisoning with barbiturates and other substances (forced diuresis).
    Contraindications:Hypersensitivity, organic kidney damage, impaired renal filtration, congestive heart failure, hemorrhagic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage (except for bleeding during trepanation of the skull), severe forms of dehydration, hyponatremia, hypochloraemia, hypokalemia, acute tubular necrosis.
    Carefully:
    Side effects:Dehydration (dry skin, dyspepsia, myasthenia gravis, convulsions, dry mouth, thirst, hallucinations, decreased blood pressure), electrolyte balance disorders, tachycardia, chest pain, thrombophlebitis, skin rash.
    Interaction:
    Special instructions:To eliminate the phase of the increase in bcc, incl. with heart failure, should be combined with loop diuretics.
    Therapy should be carried out under the control of water-electrolyte balance and central hemodynamics. In case of appearance of headache, vomiting, dizziness, visual impairment, discontinuation should be stopped and complications such as subdural and subarachnoidal bleeding should be avoided.
    The introduction of mannitol in anuria caused by organic kidney disease can lead to the development of pulmonary edema.
    Form release / dosage:10% solution can be prepared at room temperature, 15 and 20% solutions - when heated in a water bath to 37 ° C. In a 20% solution of mannitol, especially when it is cooled, crystals can be formed, for dissolution of which it is necessary to heat the vial in hot water or in an autoclave, periodically shaking. Before use, it should be cooled to body temperature or below.
