    P.02.C.A.01   Mebendazole

    P.02.C.A   Benzimidazole derivatives

Pharmacodynamics:Anthelminthic drug of a wide spectrum of action; most effective in enterobiosis and trichocephalosis. Suppress microtubule assembly by binding to nematode β-tubulin, causing a slowdown in glucose transport and uncoupling of oxidative phosphorylation; suppression of mitochondrial fumar reductase activity and loss of mobility and helminth mortality due to lack of adenosine triphosphatea.
Pharmacokinetics:Virtually not absorbed in the intestine. Half-life - 2,5-5,5 hours. The connection with plasma proteins is 90%. It is distributed unevenly in the organs, accumulates in adipose tissue, liver, larvae of helminths. In the liver, it is metabolized to a 2-amino derivative. More than 90% of the dose is excreted with caloric masses in unchanged form. The absorbed part (5-10%) is excreted by the kidneys. The half-life period increases with hepatic insufficiency up to 35 hours.
Indications:Enterobiosis, ascariasis, ankylostomidosis, strongyloidiasis, trichocephalosis, multiple nematodes, echinococcosis, teniosis, alveococcosis, capillarial disease, gnathostomosis, trichinosis, mixed helminthiases.

Inside. When enterobiosis: adults and children over 10 years - 100 mg once, children 2-10 years - 25-50 mg once. In the case of high probability of re-invasion - again after 2-4 weeks in the same doses. It is recommended that all members of the family be treated at the same time.

With ascariasis, trichocephalosis, ankylostomiasis, teniosis, strongyloidiasis and mixed helminthiasis: 100 mg in the morning and in the evening for 3 days.

When trichinosis: 200-400 mg 3 times a day for 3 days, and from the 4th to the 10th - 400-500 mg 3 times a day.

With echinococcosis: 500 mg twice a day for the first 3 days and 3 times a day for the next 3 days. In the future, the dose is raised to the maximum (at the rate of 25-30 mg / kg per day) in 3-4 doses.
