    Pharmacodynamics:

    The drug is a specific blocker of leukotriene receptors, which play an important role in maintaining bronchial hyperactivity in bronchial asthma.

    Pharmacokinetics:

    Quickly and fully absorbed, bioavailability is 64-73%, decreases with food intake. At 99% it binds to plasma proteins, the drug is metabolized in the liver, excreted by the liver with bile.

    Indications:

    Bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, correction of bronchospasm caused by NSAIDs ("aspirin" asthma), asthma of physical exertion.

    Contraindications:

    Age to 2 years, phenylketonuria, hypersensitivity.

    Carefully:

    It is necessary to strictly adhere to the treatment regimen, not to apply for the management of acute asthma attacks. Pregnancy, breast-feeding.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Category FDA - B. The drug can be used during pregnancy only if the expected benefit for the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus. For the period of application of the drug, breastfeeding should be discontinued.

    Dosing and Administration:

    The dose is set individually, the average dose is 4-10 mg once a day.

    Side effects:

    Systemic effects: edema, pyrexia, asthenia / fatigue.

    From the nervous system: convulsions, drowsiness, paresthesia, dizziness.

    From the side of the psyche: insomnia, agitation, pathological dreams, somnambulism, tremor, disorientation, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts / behavior.

    From the side of the circulatory system: tachycardia, a tendency to bleeding.

    On the part of the digestive system: vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, dyspepsia, an increase in the activity of hepatic transaminases.

    From the skin and subcutaneous tissue: itching, rash, tendency to hematomas, erythema multiforme, erythema nodosum.

    From the immune system: eosinophilic liver infiltration, hypersensitivity, anaphylaxis.

    From the musculoskeletal system: myalgia, arthralgia, muscle cramps.

    Overdose:

    Not described.Treatment is symptomatic.

    Interaction:

    The drug provides an additional therapeutic effect in patients who take inhaled glucocorticosteroids.

    Special instructions:

    Do not stop taking the medication with exacerbation of asthma. Patients taking the drug are often psychoneurological disorders.

    Impact on the ability to manage vehicles and mechanisms.

    Data indicating that the administration of montelukast affects the ability to drive a car or moving machinery has not been identified.

    However, when the drug is used, side effects such as dizziness and drowsiness may occur. Therefore, care should be taken during the work of drivers of vehicles and people whose activities require a quick mental and physical reaction, and is also associated with increased concentration of attention.
