    D.08.A.D   Preparations of boric acid

    Pharmacodynamics:

    Antiseptic; coagulates proteins (including enzymes) of a microbial cell, violates the permeability of the cell wall.

    Pharmacokinetics:

    It penetrates well through the skin and mucous membranes; It is slowly excreted and can accumulate in organs and tissues. It is excreted by the kidneys - 50% (within 12 hours), the rest for 5-7 days.

    Indications:

    Antiseptic for use in ENT practice, dermatology, ophthalmology.

    Contraception (in combination with oxyquinoline sulfate).

    Contraindications:

    Violations of kidney function, child age, treatment of the mammary glands (before feeding the baby), pregnancy, hypersensitivity to boric acid.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Contraindicated in pregnancy. Do not use to treat the mammary glands before feeding the baby.

    Dosing and Administration:

    Locally.

    With acute and chronic otitis 3-5 drops are applied to the turunda and injected into the external auditory meatus 2-3 times a day. The course of treatment should not exceed 3-5 days.

    Side effects:

    PIn long-term use, as well as in case of renal dysfunction, acute and chronic toxic reactions may occur (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, headache, confusion, convulsions, oliguria, shock).

    Overdose:

    There are no data on the drug overdose. Treatment is symptomatic.

    Interaction:

    Do not use simultaneously with other external means.

    Special instructions:

    Do not apply over large areas of the body. Do not apply externally on hair-covered areas with acute inflammatory skin diseases.

    Boric acid in the form of a specific dosage form should be applied strictly in accordance with the indications.
