Selectively inhibits the enzymatic system of microorganisms, immersed in hydrophobic areas of membranes, increasing their permeability, which culminates. By loosening the membranes of microorganisms, enhances the effects of antibacterial agents.

It does not interact with the membranes of human cells, which contain lipids of a much longer length, which excludes hydrophobic interaction with the drug.

Has bactericidal activity against gram-positive (streptococci, staphylococcus and others) and Gram-negative (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, E. coli, Klebsiella, Proteus and others) bacteria. Active with respect to virus Herpes simplex type 2, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Staphylococcus aureus, Chlamydia spp., Trichomonas vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis, Haemophilus ducreyi, Treponema pallidum and Candida albicans.
