Pharmacodynamics:

Pharmacokinetics:

Not absorbed in the intestine. Is a prodrug, in an alkaline environment occurs hydrolysis with the formation of a metabolite, which has an irritant effect on the mucosa of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT).

Indications:

Constipation due to hypotension of the large intestine (in old age, in bedridden patients, after surgeries, childbirth), stool regulation with hemorrhoids, proctitis,anal fissures; Preoperative preparation and preparation for instrumental and radiographic research.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the drug, intestinal obstruction, strangulated hernia, acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal cavity, peritonitis, bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, uterine bleeding, spastic constipation, acute proctitis, acute hemorrhoids, cystitis, children under 3 years.

Dosing and Administration:

Inside, at bedtime or 30 minutes before breakfast, adults and children over 14 years of age - 5-15 mg; children 3-7 years - 5 mg; 8-14 years - 5-10 mg. The tablets are swallowed without chewing and washing with a small amount of water.

In preparation for surgical operations, instrumental and X-ray studies, 2 tablets are prescribed for the night before the test and 2 tablets per night on the eve of the operation or study.

Side effects:

Overdose:

Symptoms: diarrhea, dehydration, violation of water-electrolyte balance, hypokalemia, atony of the colon.

Interaction:
