    Description:
    The lozenge is rectangular in a dark brown color with the inscription "ex-1ax" on one side. Pastilles are formed into a rectangular shaped tile of 9 or 12 pieces.

    Pharmacodynamics:
    Laxative means of plant origin (the sum of antraguaicosides from the leaves of Senna, cassia holly and narrow-leaved). It causes irritation of the intestinal mucosa, reflexively enhances peristalsis, which leads to a faster evacuation of the intestine. Not addictive and does not affect digestion.The action occurs 8-12 hours after admission.

    Pharmacokinetics:
    Sennosides are beta-glycosides that are not absorbed in the upper intestine and are not digested by digestive enzymes. They are converted by colon bacteria into active metabolites (re-entantrons) that are absorbed in the upper intestine. When reacting with oxygen, reynanthrons are oxidized to rhein and sennidines, which can be detected in the bloodstream mainly in the form of glucuronides and sulfates. After oral administration of sennosides, approximately 3% of their metabolites are excreted in the urine, some with bile.
    Most sennosides (about 90%) are excreted in feces in the form of polymers (polyquinones), together with 20% of unchanged sennosides, sennidines, reynanthron and rhein. A small amount is excreted in breast milk.

    Indications:
    Constipation (hypo- and atony of the gastrointestinal tract, flaccid peristalsis of the colon, including after operations, childbirth). Preparation for X-ray studies.

    Contraindications:
    Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, intestinal obstruction, strangulated hernia, acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal cavity (incl.peritonitis), bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, metrorrhagia, cystitis, spastic constipation, disturbance of water-electrolyte metabolism, lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, glucose-galactose malabsorption, children (under 6 years).

    Carefully:
    pregnancy, lactation, hepatic and / or renal failure; a condition after cavitary operations, at a diabetes mellitis in connection with presence in a preparation of sucrose.

    Dosing and Administration:
    Inside. Pastilles Ex-lax should be chewed and swallowed.
    Adults and children over 12 years: 2 lozenges 1 -2 times a day.
    The maximum allowable daily dose is 4 lozenges.
    Children from 6 to 12 years: 1 lozenge 1-2 times a day.

    Side effects:
    Discomfort in the abdominal region, for example, spasms, irritation of the mucous membrane of the stomach and intestines, flatulence, nausea. Also possible hypotension, fatigue, myopathy, abdominal pain, disturbance of water-electrolyte metabolism (excessive excretion of water and salts from the body), renal dysfunction, secondary hyperaldosteronism, hypocalcemia,hypomagnesemia, fatigue, confusion, skin rash, diarrhea, convulsions, vascular collapse.
    It is also often observed a change in the color of urine (which has no clinical significance) and is habituated to long-term use of the drug.

    Overdose:
    Symptoms: increased side effects. Treatment is symptomatic.

    Interaction:
    When combined, the drug reduces the concentration of quinidine in the blood plasma.
    In the case of simultaneous use of cardiac glycosides, antiarrhythmics, diuretics and glucocorticosteroids, there is a high risk of hypokalemia, which can lead to disruption of the heart or neuromuscular transmission.
    The drug may interfere with the absorption of tetracyclines.
    Acceptance of the drug may distort the results of urine analysis due to a change in its color.
    Special instructions:
    Treatment should begin with a minimum effective dose, which leads to normal functioning of the intestine. Prolonged messy use of laxatives can lead to impaired function of the gastrointestinal tract.
    The drug should be taken 2 hours after taking other medications.
    If there is no laxative effect after taking the recommended doses, you should consult your doctor.
    If there is no laxative effect or if you need to take the drug for more than 1 week, you should also consult a doctor.
    Care should be taken when there is milk intolerance in the anamnesis, because the preparation contains milk powder.
    Due to the presence of sucrose in the composition of the drug, people suffering from diabetes mellitus, as well as having carbohydrate metabolism, such as intolerance to fructose, impaired absorption of glucose and galactose, insufficiency of isomaltase sucrose, Exxon should be taken with caution. The content of sucrose in 1 lozenge is 474.12 mg, in terms of grain units is equivalent to 0.04 XE.
