    Pharmacodynamics:

    The effectiveness of the drug is due to the presence in its composition of two antibacterial components:

    a) metronidazole has antibacterial action against anaerobic bacteria that cause periodontal disease: Porphyromonas gingivalis, Prevotella intermedia, Fusobacterium fusiformis, Wolinellci recta, Eikenella corrodens, Borrelia vincenti, Bacteroides melaninogenicus, Selenomonas spp.

    b) chlorhexidine - antiseptic and antimicrobial agent, effective against gram-positive and gram-negative aerobic and anaerobic bacteria (Treponema spp., Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Trichomonas spp., Chlamydia spp., Ureaplasma spp., Bacteroides fragilis). Some strains are slightly sensitive to the drug Pseudomonas spp., Proteus spp., and also resistant to acid-fast forms of bacteria, spores of bacteria. Does not interfere with the functional activity of lactobacilli.

    With topical application, Metrogil Denta gel is not practically absorbed.
    Indications:

    Infectious-inflammatory diseases of periodontal and oral mucosa: acute and chronic gingivitis; acute ulcerous-necrotic gingivitis of Vincent; acute and chronic periodontitis; juvenile periodontitis; periodontal disease complicated by gingivitis; aphthous stomatitis; cheilitis; inflammation of the oral mucosa during the wearing of prostheses; postextraction alveolitis (inflammation of the hole after tooth extraction); periodontitis, periodontal abscess (in combination therapy)

    Contraindications:

    Individual intolerance to metronidazole, chlorhexidine, as well as derivatives of nitroimidazole.Intolerance to any components that make up the drug. Children under 6 years.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    It is not recommended to prescribe the drug to pregnant women in the first trimester of pregnancy. In the lactation period, if you need to prescribe the drug, you should decide whether to stop breastfeeding.

    Dosing and Administration:

    Locally, only for dental use.

    Adults and children over 6 years old with gum disease (gingivitis) Metrogil Denta® is applied to the gum area with a thin layer of finger or with a cotton swab 2 times a day. After applying the gel, you should refrain from drinking and eating for 30 minutes. It is not recommended to wash off the gel. The duration of treatment is an average of 7-10 days.

    With periodontitis after removal of dental deposits, periodontal pockets are treated with Metrogil Dent gel and gel application is applied to the gum area. Exposure time - 30 min. The number of procedures depends on the severity of the disease. In the future, the patient's gel can be applied on his own: Metrogil Denta® is applied to the gum area 2 times a day for 7-10 days.

    With aphthous stomatitis, Metrogil Dent is applied to the affected area of ​​the oral mucosa 2 times a day for 7-10 days.

    To prevent exacerbations of chronic gingivitis and periodontitis, Metrogil Denta gel is applied to the gum area 2 times a day for 7-10 days. Preventive courses of treatment are carried out 2-3 times a year.

    For the prevention of postextraction alveolitis after tooth extraction, the well is treated with Metrogil Denta gel, then the gel is applied 2-3 times a day for 7-10 days.

    Side effects:

    With topical application of Metrogil Denta gel, allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, urticaria) and headache can be observed.

    Overdose:Accidental or intentional ingestion of a large amount of gel may become cause increased side effects, mainly due to metronidazole (chlorhexidine practically not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract). There may be: nausea, vomiting, dizziness, in more severe cases - paresthesia and seizures. Treatment: gastric lavage, symptomatic therapy if necessary.
    Interaction:

    When topical application in the recommended doses of systemic interaction of the gel Metrogil Denta ® with other medicines is not revealed.

    Special instructions:The use of Metrogyl Denta gel is not replaces hygienic teeth cleaning, therefore during the course of treatment dentifrice should be continued.
