Octyl - instructions for use, dosage, side effects, contraindications

Excipients: water chamomile, water lime, sodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, sodium chloride, disodium edetate, polysorbate-80, benzalkonium chloride, purified water.

Description:Transparent colorless or slightly yellowish solution.

Pharmacodynamics:

Tetrizoline hydrochloride is an alpha-adrenomimetic, an imidazole derivative. Has a pronounced vasoconstrictive effect. With topical application reduces swelling and flushing of the mucous membranes.

Pharmacokinetics:

When topical application of recommended doses of the drug is absorbed slightly. Information on the degree of penetration into various tissues of the eye after topical application is not present.

Indications:

Octylium is used in complex therapy for the treatment of eye diseases,accompanied by irritation symptoms caused by allergic, chemical and physical factors (smoke, dust, strong lighting, reflection of light from snow and water surfaces, from radiating screens of monitors).

Contraindications:

- Increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug;

- glaucoma;

- dry eye syndrome;

- epithelial-endothelial dystrophies of the cornea;

- children under 3 years;

- pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding.

Carefully:

- Ahyperthermia;

- arrhythmia, aneurysm;

- severe organic diseases of the heart and blood vessels (including ischemic heart disease);

-hyperthyroidism;

- pheochromocytoma;

- diabetes;

- period of treatment with MAO inhibitors and other drugs that increase blood pressure, antidepressants.

Pregnancy and lactation:Contraindicated.

Dosing and Administration:

Bury 1-2 drops 2-3 times a day in a conjunctival sac.

Side effects:

Local: mydriasis, increased intraocular pressure, a burning sensation in the eye, reactive conjunctival hyperemia.

System Effects: headache, nausea, drowsiness, weakness, tremor, dizziness, insomnia, palpitations, tachycardia,hyperglycemia, increased blood pressure, a violation of the heart, allergic reactions.

Overdose:

The prolonged use of eye drops in excessive doses can cause toxic effects. Excessive general absorption of imidazole derivatives can lead to central nervous system depression, accompanied by drowsiness, hypothermia, bradycardia, collapse, apnea and coma. The risk of overdose symptoms associated with drug absorption is high in young children, especially if swallowed.

Symptoms: cyanosis, fever, seizures, arrhythmias, cardiac arrest, increased blood pressure, pulmonary edema, dyspnea.

Treatment: antidote is unknown. Assign Activated carbon, gastric lavage, inhalation of oxygen, antipyretic and antiepileptic agents. To reduce blood pressure - fentolamine 5 mg on physiological solution slowly intravenously or 100 mg orally.

Interaction:The drug should not be used simultaneously with MAO inhibitors and within 10 days after discontinuation of their intake.

Special instructions:

Without consultation with the ophthalmologist, the drug should not be used continuously for more than 4 days.If within 2 days the symptoms of the disease persist or become more pronounced, consultation of the oculist is necessary.

It is recommended to strictly follow the dosage regimen of the drug.

The drug should be stored out of the reach of children, as if accidentally swallowed, it can provoke a systemic effect of the drug, cause sedation.

Patients who use contact lenses can only use Octillia with their lenses removed, which they wear 15 minutes after instillation of the drug.
