The effect of the drug is due to the formation of highly reactive amino derivatives due to the reduction of the 5-nitro group with the participation of bacterial flavoproteins. Amino-derivatives cause conformational changes in proteins and other macromolecules, which leads to the death of microorganisms. Active with respect to Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Shigella dysenteriae, Shigella flexneri, Shigella boydii, Shigella sonnei, Escherichia coli, Clostridium perfringens, Salmonella spp. Increases the absorption capacity of the reticuloendothelial system, enhances phagocytosis.

Pharmacokinetics:

The drug is quickly and completely absorbed, it penetrates through the histohematic barriers, it is evenly distributed in tissues and liquids. Metabolized by the reduction of the nitro group. Excreted by the kidneys and partially with bile. Maximum concentration in the urine is reached 6 hours after ingestion.

Dosing and Administration:
