Polyphepan - instructions for use, doses, side effects, contraindications

Polyphepan is a natural enterosorbent consisting of a product of hydrolysis of wood polymer components of lignin, the structural elements of which are derivatives of phenylpropane and hydrocellulose.

In 1 g of polyphepan granules contains 500 mg of hydrolysing lignin (polyphepan) (in terms of dry matter) and 500 mg of sucrose (sugar-sand).

Description:The granules are irregular in shape, dark brown in color, odorless.

Pharmacodynamics:

The drug has a high sorption activity and nonspecific detoxification.

In the lumen of the gastrointestinal tract, polyphepan binds and removes pathogenic bacteria and bacterial toxins, drugs, poisons, heavy metal salts, alcohol, allergens from the body. The drug also absorbs excess of some metabolic products, including bilirubin, cholesterol, urea, metabolites, responsible for the development of endogenous toxicosis.

Pharmacokinetics:

Polyphepan is non-toxic, not absorbed, completely eliminated from the intestine within 24 hours.

Indications:

Polyphepan is used as a detoxifier for exogenous and endogenous toxicoses of various origins.

To provide first aid for acute poisoning with drugs, alkaloids, heavy metal salts, alcohol and other poisons.

In the complex treatment of food-borne diseases, salmonellosis, dysentery, dysbacteriosis, dyspepsia, as well as purulent-inflammatory diseases, accompanied by intoxication.

In hepatic and renal insufficiency

With violations of lipid metabolism (atherosclerosis, obesity).

The drug can be used to treat food and drug allergies. It is used for excretion of xenobiotics from the body.

Contraindications:

Individual intolerance to the drug. It is not desirable to use the drug for exacerbation of peptic ulcer of stomach and duodenum, intestinal atony, anacid gastritis.

Polyphepan granules contain sugar, which is why they are not recommended for diabetes mellitus.

Dosing and Administration:

The drug is taken orally one hour before meals and taking other medications, stirring in 50-100 ml of water or squeezed with water. The dose of the drug depends on the severity of the disease and is 0.5-1.0 g / kg body weight per day in 3-4 sessions.

Average doses: for children from 1 to 7 years - 1 dessert spoon; from 7 years and older, as well as adults - 1 tablespoon per reception 3-4 times a day.

Duration of treatment for acute conditions 3-5 days, with allergic diseases and chronic intoxications up to 14 days.

Repeated courses of treatment after two weeks.

Side effects:

In rare cases, there are allergic reactions, constipation.

Long-term use of enterosorbent (more than 20 days) can lead to impaired absorption of vitamins, calcium, and therefore, a preventive method of multivitamins and calcium preparations is recommended.

Overdose:

No cases of overdose have been reported.

Interaction:

It is possible to reduce the therapeutic effect of some concurrently taken medications.
