Motherwort herb - instructions for use, doses, side effects, contraindications

Pieces of stems, peduncles, leaves and inflorescence of the motherwort passing through a sieve with holes 2 mm in size. Color from greyish-green to brownish-green with numerous whitish, yellowish-white, greyish-white, pink-violet, grayish-pink impregnations. The smell is weak.The taste of water extract is bitterish.

Pharmacodynamics:

The motherwort herb contains essential oil, tannins, flavonoids (rutin, quercetin, hyperoside, etc.), iridoids, saponins, vitamin C, carotene, macro- and microelements and other biologically active substances.

Herb infusion of motherwort has a pronounced sedative effect, has hypotensive properties, slows down the rhythm and increases the strength of heartbeats.

Indications:

Increased nervous excitability, sleep disturbance, neurasthenia, neurocirculatory dystonia.

Contraindications:Hypersensitivity to the drug, pregnancy, children under 12 years.

The use is possible after agreement with the attending physician.

Dosing and Administration:

2 filter packets (3.0 g) are placed in a glass or enamel ware, pour 100 ml (1/2 cup) of boiling water, cover and insist for 15 minutes.

Filter packs are squeezed, the volume of the obtained infusion is brought to boiling water to 100 ml.

Take inside 1/2 cup 3 times a day for 1 hour before meals.

Before use, the infusion is recommended to be shaken.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions are possible.

Overdose:

To date, cases of overdose have not been reported.

Interaction:

Compatible with other sedatives; enhances the effect of hypnotics and other medications that depress the central nervous system.

With prolonged use of the drug in large doses, it is possible to reduce the rate of psychomotor reactions, which should be taken into account when driving vehicles and engaging in other potentially dangerous activities that require an increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.
