Salicylic acid - instructions for use, dose, side effects, contraindications

Pharmacodynamics:Has keratolytic, antiseptic, local irritating and anti-inflammatory effect. Promotes softening and peeling of the cornified layer of the epidermis.

Pharmacokinetics:With external application, systemic absorption is possible.

Indications:

Solution for external use: oily seborrhea, chronic eczema, acne vulgaris, pityriasis lichen.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity; kidney failure; Infant age.

Dosing and Administration:Outwardly. Solution: treat the affected surface with an alcoholic solution 2-3 times a day.Corn and calluses are removed 3-4 days after a warm foot bath. If necessary, repeat the treatment. The maximum daily dose for adults is 10 ml (corresponding to 2 g of salicylic acid); for children - 1 ml (corresponds to 0.2 g of salicylic acid). The course of treatment - no more than 1 week.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions; local reactions (burning, itching, hyperemia).

Interaction:

Salicylic acid can increase skin permeability for other drugs for topical application and thereby increase their absorption.

Sucked up salicylic acid may increase the side effects of methotrexate and oral hypoglycemic JIC, sulfonylurea derivatives. The solution is pharmaceutically incompatible with resorcinol (forms melting mixtures) and zinc oxide (insoluble zinc salicylate).

Special instructions:

Do not apply the drug to birthmarks, warts, including. in the genital area or face.

When treating children, several areas of the skin should be avoided simultaneously.

During pregnancy, the use of the drug for the treatment of corns and calluses is allowed only on a limited surface (not more than 5 ml).

In case of contact with mucous membranes, rinse the area with plenty of water.

It should be borne in mind that with skin diseases that occur with hyperemia and inflammation (including psoriatic erythroderma) or with superficial dying lesions, it is possible to increase the absorption of salicylic acid.
