    Composition:Senna leaves
    Description:
    Pieces of leaves, thin stems, petioles, petals, buds, flowers, sepals and immature fruits of various shapes, passing through a sieve with apertures 7 mm in diameter. Color grayish green. The smell is weak. The taste of the water extract is slightly bitter with a sensation of mucus.

    Pharmacodynamics:
    Decoction of senna leaves has a laxative effect. The therapeutic effect develops 8-12 hours after taking the drug.

    Indications:Chronic constipation, stool regulation with hemorrhoids, proctitis, anal fissures.
    Contraindications:
    Hypersensitivity to the drug, intestinal obstruction, abdominal pain of unclear origin, disturbed water and electrolyte metabolism, acute inflammatory diseases of the abdominal cavity, proctitis and hemorrhoids (exacerbation phase), strangulated hernia, bleeding from the digestive tract, uterine bleeding, cystitis, spastic colitis, pregnancy, children under 12 years.

    Dosing and Administration:
    About 10 g (2 tablespoons) of senna leaves are placed in enameled dishes, poured into 200 ml (1 glass) of hot boiled water, covered with a lid and heated in a boiling water bath for 30 minutes, then cooled at room temperature for 10 minutes, filtered, left raw materials squeeze out. The volume of the resulting broth is brought to 200 ml with boiled water.
    Take the inside of a glass of decoction broth in the evening after eating. The course of treatment is 2-3 weeks.It is recommended to stir up the broth before use.
    Side effects:
    Allergic reactions are possible; abdominal pain, diarrhea, flatulence. With prolonged use - colitis.

    Overdose:
    Symptoms: diarrhea, violation of water-electrolyte metabolism.
    Treatment is symptomatic.

    Interaction:
    Senna preparations reduce the absorption of tetracycline.

    Special instructions:
    With prolonged use of senna preparations, habituation can develop, so it is advisable to alternate them with other laxatives.
