Ground raw materials. A mixture of pieces of thin stems, leaves and flowers. Pieces of stems are square, thin, greenish or yellowish-brown in color, sometimes with a purple hue. The leaves are green or greyish-green, whole and in the form of pieces of various shapes. Flowers are small, often crushed, bluish-violet with a bicornish reddish-brown calyx.

The scent is fragrant. The taste of the water extract is bitterish-spicy.

Pharmacodynamics:

Infusion of herbs of thyme exposes an expectorant, antimicrobial effect.

Indications:

Infusion of herbs of thyme is used inside as an expectorant for inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract - laryngitis, tracheitis, bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, locally - for rinsing with inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the drug, liver and kidney disease, gastritis with high acidity, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, pregnancy and lactation.

Dosing and Administration:

About 10 g (2 tablespoons) of thyme herbs are placed in enamel ware, pour 200 ml (1 cup) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and insist on a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, filter, the remaining raw material is squeezed. The volume of the infusion obtained is adjusted to 200 ml with boiled water.

Infusion take inside 1 tablespoon 2-3 times a day before meals.

To rinse the mouth and pharynx, apply 14 to 1 glass 3-4 times a day in a warm form.

Before use, the infusion is recommended to be shaken.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions are possible, with an overdose - nausea.
