The infusion of the buckthorn bark has a laxative effect due to the presence of anthra-derivatives glycosides, which irritate the receptors of the mucous membrane of the large intestine. The laxative effect usually occurs 8 to 12 hours after taking the drug.

Indications:Chronic constipation.

Contraindications:

Increased individual sensitivity to the drug components, constipation of neurogenic and endocrine origin, spastic constipation, intestinal obstruction, bleeding, acute abdominal syndrome, appendicitis, enteritis, colitis, acute febrile conditions. Pregnancy, the period of breastfeeding. Children under 12 years.

Dosing and Administration:

2 filter bags are placed in a glass or enamel ware, pour 100 ml (1/2 cup) of boiling water, cover and insist for 15 minutes. Filter- the squeezes are squeezed out, the volume of the obtained infusion is brought to boiling water up to 100 ml.

Take inside 1/2 glass for the night or in the morning.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions are possible.

Overdose:In case of an overdose, there may be colic pain in the abdomen, tenesmus, a feeling of discomfort in the abdomen, staining the urine in yellow. Long-term use leads to addiction and weakening or lack of laxative effect.
