    Composition:

    Buckthorn bark.

    Characteristic:

    Bark of buckthorn alder or buckthorn fragile contains anthraglikosides frangulin, glucofragulin, frangulaemodine, chryphanic acid, tannins, organic acids, ethereal butter, Sahara, alkaloids and other biologically active substance.

    Description:

    Ground raw materials. Pieces of bark of various shapes passing through a sieve with apertures measuring 7 mm.     Pharmacodynamics:

    Decoction of the buckthorn bark has a mild laxative effect. The laxative effect usually comes in 8-12 hours after taking the drug buckthorn.

    Indications:Applied as a laxative for chronic constipation.
    Contraindications:

    Increased individual sensitivity to the drug components, constipation of neurogenic and endocrine origin, spastic constipation, intestinal obstruction, bleeding, acute abdominal syndrome, appendicitis, other inflammatory processes in the abdominal cavity, acute febrile conditions. Pregnancy, the period of breastfeeding.

    Dosing and Administration:

    About 12 g (2 tablespoons) of bark are placed in enameled dishes, pour 200 ml (1 glass) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and insist on a boiling water bath with frequent stirring for 30 minutes, cool at room temperature for 10 minutes, filter, the remaining raw material is squeezed.The volume of the resulting broth is brought with boiled water to an initial volume of 200 ml.

    Take 1/2 cups a night and in the morning. It is recommended to stir up the broth before use.
    Side effects:

    Allergic reactions are possible, staining the urine in yellow (due to the presence of chryphonic acid, does not require cancellation).

    Overdose:In case of an overdose, colic pains in the abdomen, tenesmus, a feeling of discomfort in the abdomen are possible. Long-term use leads to addiction and weakening or lack of laxative effect.
