    Pharmacodynamics:

    L-carnitine is a natural substance related to vitamins of group B. It is a carrier of fatty acids through cell membranes from the cytoplasm to the mitochondria, followed by the formation of ATP.

    Normalizes fat and protein metabolism. Increases the resistance of nerve cells to hypoxia, reduces the degree of lactic acidosis due to oppression of anaerobic glycolysis and the formation of keto acids. It has anabolic effect, increases the blood supply to the affected area and speeds up the reparative processes.

    Pharmacokinetics:

    After oral administration, it is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. The maximum concentration of the drug in the blood plasma is reached after 3 hours.

    When intramuscular injection is detected in the plasma for 4 hours.

    3 hours after intravenous injection is completely removed from the blood.

    Free penetrates into the myocardium, liver, muscle tissue.

    The half-life is 17.4 h.

    Elimination by the kidneys in the form of acyl esters - for 24 hours more than 80%.

    Indications:

    It is used in micropediatrics and pediatrics for newborns and children with hypotrophy, the consequences of birth trauma and asphyxia. Used in psychiatry and neurology for the treatment of anorexia, physical exhaustion, traumatic encephalopathy. In endocrinology - with a delay in the growth of children under 16 and a mild form of thyrotoxicosis.

    Dosing and Administration:

    Use in children

    Newborns inside for 0,5 h before feeding 4-10 drops (0,03-0,075 g) 2 times a day. The highest daily dose is 0.15 g. The drug is taken for 2-6 weeks.

    Up to 1 year: 10 drops 3 times a day as an additive to sweet drinks.

    1-6 years: 14 drops (0.1 g);

    6-12 years: 100-200 mg (1/4 teaspoon) 2-3 times a day. The daily dose of 0,4-0,9 g. The course of treatment is 1 month.

    Adults

    Inside for 1-2 teaspoons 20% solution or 1-2 chewable tablets.

    Intravenous infusion with acute myocardial infarction 100-200 mg / kg for 48 hours with a dose reduction of half.

    Patients on hemodialysis - 2 g intravenously once immediately after the next session.

    The highest daily dose: 400 mg.

    The highest single dose: 100 mg.

    Side effects:

    With the rapid administration of the drug, the appearance of pain along the vein, which disappears when the rate of administration drops below 80 drops per minute.

    Interaction:

    Anabolic steroids increase the effectiveness of the drug.

    Glucocorticoids contribute to the accumulation of the drug in tissues, except the liver.
