The causative agents of dysentery, typhoid fever and paratyphoid are most susceptible to furazolidone.
Pharmacokinetics:After oral administration, it is poorly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and creates high concentrations in the lumen of the intestine.
Elimination with feces, in a small amount, up to 5% - by the kidneys, staining the urine in brown.
Indications:It is used for treatment intestinal infections of bacterial and protozoal etiology: dysentery, paratyphoid, giardiasis, food toxic infections. Used as a local remedy for infected wounds and burns.

Interaction:Tetracycline and aminoglycosides increase antimicrobial activity.
With simultaneous use with sulfonamides, ristomycin, chloramphenicol, the risk of oppression of hematopoiesis increases.
Special instructions:It is necessary to combine the drug with prolonged use with vitamins of group B (in order to prevent the development of polyneuritis).
Simultaneous use with ethanol can cause a disulfiram-like reaction.
