N.02.B.B.52   Metamizole sodium in combination with other drugs, excluding psycholeptics

    Pharmacodynamics:

The composition of the drug includes: non-narcotic analgesic metamizol sodium (analgin), myotropic antispasmodic agent of pituophenone hydrochloride and cholinoblocking agent fenpiperininium bromide. Metamizole is a derivative of pyrazolone. It has analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory action.Pitophenone, like papaverine, has a direct myotropic effect on the smooth muscles of the internal organs and causes it to relax. Fenpierinium due to anticholinergic action has an additional relaxing effect on smooth muscle. The combination of the three components of the drug leads to a mutual enhancement of their pharmacological action, expressed in relieving the pain, relaxing the smooth muscles, reducing the fever.

    Pharmacokinetics:

    Indications:

Weak or mild pain syndrome with smooth spasms
musculature of internal organs - renal and biliary colic, spasms
intestines, dysmenorrhea and other spastic conditions of internal organs.

Can be used for short-term symptomatic treatment for headaches, migraine pain, joint pain, neuralgia, sciatica, myalgia.

As an adjuvant can be used to reduce pain after surgical and diagnostic interventions.

If necessary, the drug can be used to reduce elevated body temperature with colds and infectious inflammatory diseases.

    Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to pyrazolone derivatives and other components of the drug; marked violations of the liver or kidneys; genetic absence of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase; tachyarrhythmia; closed-angle form of glaucoma; hypertrophy of the prostate with a tendency to urinary retention; gastrointestinal obstruction; megacolon; diseases of the blood system; collaptoid states; the first trimester and the last 6 weeks of pregnancy; lactation period.

Tablets are not used for children under 5 years.

Carefully:With caution and under the supervision of a doctor, the drug should be administered to patients with impaired liver and / or kidney function, with a tendency to hypotension, bronchospasm, and also with increased individual sensitivity to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or non-narcotic analgesics.
    Pregnancy and lactation:contraindicated
    Dosing and Administration:

Adults and adolescents over 15 years are prescribed inside (preferably after eating) 1-2 tablets 2-3 times a day. The daily dose should not exceed 6 tablets. Duration of reception no more than 5 days.

Other dosage regimens are possible only after consultation with a physician.

    Side effects:

In therapeutic doses, the drug is usually well tolerated. Sometimes allergic reactions are possible (skin rash, itching, very rarely anaphylactic shock). In rare cases - a burning sensation in the epigastric region, dry mouth, headache. Possible dizziness, lowering blood pressure, tachycardia, cyanosis. With long-term admission - cases of violation of the blood system (thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, agranulocytosis). With an inclination to bronchosnasm it is possible to provoke an attack.

All side effects should be reported to your doctor.

    Overdose:

In case of an overdose, the following symptoms may occur: vomiting, dry mouth, sweating, accommodation, hypotension, drowsiness, confusion, impaired liver and kidney function, convulsions.Treatment is symptomatic.

    Interaction:

The simultaneous use of revalgine with other non-narcotic analgesics may lead to a mutual enhancement of toxic effects. Tricyclic antidepressants, oral contraceptives, allopurinol disrupt metamizole metabolism in the liver and increase its toxicity. Barbiturates, phenylbutazone and other inducers of microsomal liver enzymes weaken the action of metamizole. Simultaneous use with cyclosporine reduces the level of the latter in the blood. Sedatives and tranquilizers increase the analgesic effect of Revalgine. If you need to use these and other medications at the same time, you should consult your doctor.

    Special instructions:

At long (more than a week) the use of the drug requires control of the picture of peripheral blood and the functional state of the liver. Sometimes metamizole metabolites can stain urine red.
