Contraceptive local (spermatocidal) remedy, also has antiseptic, antifungal, antiprotozoal, action; inactivates the virus Herpes simplex.
It shows bactericidal activity against staphylococci, streptococci, gram-negative bacteria (intestinal and pseudomonas aeruginosa, gonococcus, proteus, klebsiella and others), anaerobic bacteria, fungi and molds. It acts on strains of bacteria resistant to antibiotics and other chemotherapeutic drugs; suppresses plasmacoagulase and hyaluronidase of staphylococci.
Spermatocidal effect is due to the ability to damage the membranes of spermatozoa (at the beginning of the flagella, then the head), which makes it impossible to fertilize the damaged sperm. The effect develops 5 minutes after the introduction of the vaginal suppository.
It is active in the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases (gonorrhea, chlamydia, trichomoniasis). Does not affect the normal microflora of the vagina (including the Doderylein wand) and the hormonal cycle.
