    Description:

    Characteristic

    Oak bark contains at least 8% tannins, gallic and ellagic acids, quercetin and other biologically active substances.

    Description

    Pieces of bark of various shapes passing through a sieve with apertures measuring 7 mm. The color is light brown, light gray, silvery or tawny. The smell is weak, peculiar, intensifying when the bark is moistened with water. The taste of water extract is very astringent.

    Pharmacodynamics:

    Decoction of the bark of oak has astringent, anti-inflammatory effect, due to the presence of tannins.

    Indications:

    Applied locally in adults and children from 3 years with inflammatory diseases of the oral mucosa, throat, pharynx (stomatitis, gingivitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis).

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to the drug, children up to 3 years.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Application during pregnancy and during breastfeeding is possible if the expected benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus and the baby. It is necessary to consult a doctor.

    Dosing and Administration:

    About 20 g (3 tablespoons) oak bark is placed in enameled dishes, pour 200 ml (1 glass) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and heat in a boiling water bath for 30 minutes, filter without cooling, the remaining raw material is squeezed. The volume of the resulting broth is brought to 200 ml with boiled water.

    The broth is used topically for rinses in a warm 1/2-1 glass 6-8 times a day. The course of treatment 2-4 weeks.

    It is recommended to stir the broth before use.

    Side effects:

    Allergic reactions are possible. With prolonged use of decoction of the oak bark for rinsing the oral cavity, a decrease in olfaction and taste sensations can be observed.

    Overdose:

    Cases of overdose have not been registered to date.

    The use of the drug does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and engage in other potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions.
