Description:

The liquid is brown with the smell of ammonia and anise oil. During storage, precipitation may occur.

Pharmacodynamics:

The expectorant effect of the thoracic elixir is due to the action of its constituent components:

- licorice extract has a thick anti-inflammatory and expectorant properties that are associated with the content in the roots of glycyrrhizin,stimulating the activity of ciliated epithelium in the trachea and bronchi, and also enhancing the secretory function of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract;

- anise oil has a bronchodilatory effect due to the oil content of anethole, which contributes to the reflex stimulation of breathing, increased activity ciliated epithelium of the airways and increased secretion of the mucous membranes of the larynx, trachea and bronchus;

- ammonia has an irritating effect that leads to the excitation of the endings of the sensory nerves of the upper respiratory tract and reflex stimulation of the respiratory center.

Indications:

As expectorant in infectious inflammatory respiratory diseases, accompanied by cough with expectoration trudnootdelyaemoy (including tracheitis, tracheobronchitis, bronchitis).

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, bronchial asthma, gastritis, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum during the exacerbation, pregnancy, lactation.

Carefully:

Liver diseases, alcoholism, craniocerebral trauma, brain diseases.

Dosing and Administration:

Inside, 3-4 times a day.Adults in the 20-40 drops, children are prescribed to receive as many drops as the child's age. Before use, dilute in a small amount of water.

The course of treatment is 7-10 days. An increase in the duration and conduct of repeated courses of treatment is possible on the recommendation of a doctor.

Side effects:Allergic reactions are possible, in some cases, diarrhea may occur.

Overdose:

With long-term use with excess of the indicated dosages hypokalemia, increased arterial pressure, the appearance of peripheral edema due to disturbance of water-salt metabolism are possible. Treatment: symptomatic.

Interaction:

If necessary, can be used in combination with antibiotics and other medicines. It should not be used simultaneously with antitussive drugs, as this makes it difficult to cough up thinned phlegm.

Special instructions:

The absolute ethanol content in 1 drop of the drug is 0.0075 g, in the maximum single dose for adults - up to 0.3 g, in the maximum daily dose - up to 1.2 g, which should be taken into account when it is necessary to manage vehicles and work with moving mechanisms.
