    Description:

    The liquid is brown with the smell of ammonia and anise oil. Precipitation during storage is allowed.

    Pharmacodynamics:

    The expectorant effect of the thoracic elixir is due to the action of its constituent components:

    - Licorice extract has anti-inflammatory and expectorant properties that are associated with the content in the roots of glycyrrhizin, stimulating the activity of ciliated epithelium in the trachea and bronchi, and also enhancing the secretory function of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract;

    - Anise oil has an expectorant effect due to the content of anethole in the oil, which contributes to reflex excitation of respiration, increased activity of the ciliary epithelium of the respiratory tract and increased secretion of the mucous membranes of the larynx, trachea, bronchi;

    - ammonia has an irritating effect that leads to the excitation of the endings of the sensory nerves of the upper respiratory tract and reflex stimulation of the respiratory center.

    Indications:

    As an expectorant for infectious-inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by the formation of hard-to-separate sputum (including tracheitis, tracheobronchitis, bronchitis).

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, bronchial asthma, gastritis, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum during the exacerbation, pregnancy, the period of breastfeeding.

    Carefully:

    Liver diseases, alcoholism, craniocerebral injury, brain diseases; childhood.

    Dosing and Administration:

    Inside. Adults 20-40 drops 3-4 times a day, children are prescribed to take as many drops as the child's age.Before use, the drug should be diluted in a small amount of water. The course of treatment is 7-10 days. An increase in the duration and conduct of repeated courses of treatment is possible on the recommendation of a doctor.

    Side effects:Allergic reactions are possible, in some cases, diarrhea may occur.
    Overdose:

    With prolonged use, with excess of the indicated dosages hypokalemia, increased arterial pressure, the appearance of peripheral edema due to water-salt metabolism violation are possible. Treatment is symptomatic.

    Interaction:

    The thoracic elixir should not be used concomitantly with antitussive medicines, as this makes it difficult to cough up thinned phlegm. If necessary, the drug can be used in combination with antibiotics and other medicines.

    Special instructions:

    The composition of the drug contains at least 14% of ethyl alcohol. The content of absolute ethyl alcohol in 1 drop of the drug is 0.005 g, in the maximum single dose for adults - up to 0.3 g, in a maximum daily dose - up to 1.2 g.

    When using the drug, care should be taken when carrying out potentially hazardous activities requiring special attention and quick reactions (driving and other vehicles, working with moving mechanisms, dispatcher and operator work, etc.).

    Packaging:To 25 ml in bottles or vials of an orange glass. Each bottle / bottle-dropper is placed in a pack of cardboard. The full text of the instructions for use is applied to the cardboard pack. Vials or vials of a dropper with an equal number of instructions for use are placed in a group package.
