Licorice extract of thick extract - 20,70 g

Ammonia aqueous concentrated - 1.38 g

Auxiliary substances:

Anisic oil 0.34 g

Ethyl alcohol 95% (ethanol) - 19.34 ml

Waters purified - up to 100 ml

Description:

The liquid is dark brown in color, with the smell of ammonia and anise oil. Precipitation is allowed during storage.

Pharmacodynamics:

The expectorant effect of the thoracic elixir is due to the action of its constituents.

- Licorice root extract has some anti-inflammatory and expectorant properties that are related to the content in the roots of glycyrrhizin, stimulating the activity of ciliated epithelium in the trachea and bronchi, and also enhancing the secretory function of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract;

- Anise oil has an expectorant effect due to the antholum content in the oil, which promotes reflex excitation of respiration, increased activity of the ciliary epithelium of the respiratory tract and increased secretion of the mucous membranes of the larynx, trachea, bronchi;

- ammonia has an irritating effect that leads to the excitation of the endings of the sensory nerves of the upper respiratory tract and reflex stimulation of the respiratory center.

Indications:

As an expectorant for infectious inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by the formation of hard to separate sputum (including tracheitis, tracheobronchitis, bronchitis).

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, bronchial asthma, gastritis, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum during the exacerbation, pregnancy, lactation.

Carefully:Liver diseases, alcoholism, craniocerebral trauma, brain diseases.

Dosing and Administration:

Inside. Adults on 20-40 drops 3-4 times a day; children are assigned to receive as many drops as the child's age.Before using the drug should be diluted in a small amount of water.

The course of treatment is 7-10 days. An increase in the duration and conduct of repeated courses of treatment is possible on the recommendation of a doctor.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions are possible, in some cases, diarrhea may occur.

Overdose:

With long-term use with excess of the indicated dosages hypokalemia, increased arterial pressure, the appearance of peripheral edema due to disturbance of water-salt metabolism are possible.

Interaction:

In cases of moderate severity and severe form, the drug is prescribed in combination with antibiotics and other means.

Special instructions:

The thoracic elixir should not be used concomitantly with antitussive medicines, as this makes it difficult to cough up thinned phlegm.

The drug contains at least 14% ethyl alcohol. In the maximum daily dose of the drug for adults (160 drops) contains up to 0.7 grams of absolute alcohol.
