    Pharmacodynamics:

    Antifungal agent from the group of imidazoles of a wide spectrum of action. It changes the permeability of cell membranes, which leads to the lysis of fungi. Effective against yeast fungi of the genus Candida and dermatophytes. Has antimicrobial effect against Gram-positive (Streptococcus, Staphylococcus) and Gram-negative bacteria (Gardnerella vaginalis, Bacteroides spp.), as well as in relation to Trichomonas vaginalis, Corynebacterium minutissimum, Malassezia furfur.

    Pharmacokinetics:

    Topical agent, practically not absorbed into the bloodstream and does not have a systemic effect. Fungicidal concentration in the vagina persists for 3 days after the application.

    Indications:

    It is used for fungal lesions of the skin and mucous membranes caused by yeast and mold fungi, dermatophytes; for the treatment of trichomoniasis, vulvovaginal candidiasis, multicolored lichen, mycoses complicated by secondary pyoderma. It is used for sanation of the birth canal before delivery.

    Contraindications:

    Individual intolerance, I trimester of pregnancy, children's age up to 2 years.

    Carefully:

    Hypersensitivity, pregnancy (II and III trimesters), lactation.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

    Recommendations for FDA - Category C (I trimester). Contraindicated in I trimester of pregnancy.In II-III trimester - category B, is used during pregnancy and lactation.

    Dosing and Administration:

    Ointment, cream, spray, the solution is applied to the affected areas 2-3 times a day for 4 weeks or more.

    Vaginal tablets are administered at night for 100 mg (1 tablet) for 7 days or 200 mg for 3 days, or 500 mg once.

    Vaginal gel is administered at 5 g (the capacity of one applicator) before going to bed for 6 days.

    Side effects:

    Local reactions: transient hyperemia, itching, burning.

    Allergic reactions.

    Overdose:

    Cases of overdose are not described.

    Treatment is symptomatic.

    Interaction:

    Reduces the activity of polyene antibiotics (amphotericin B, natamycin, nystatin).

    Special instructions:

    With sexually transmitted infections, it is necessary to sanitize both partners with the exception of sexuality for the period of treatment.

    Vaginal forms of clotrimazole are not used during menstruation.
