    A.07.B.A.01   Activated carbon

    Pharmacodynamics:

It has enterosorbent, detoxifying and anti-diarrhea action. Refers to a group of polyvalent physicochemical antidotes, has a large surface activity. Adsorbs poisons and toxins from the gastrointestinal tract to their absorption, including alkaloids, glycosides, barbiturates and other sleeping pills and narcotics, heavy metal salts, toxins of bacterial, plant, animal origin, phenol derivatives, hydrocyanic acid, sulfonamides, gases. The drug adsorbs also the excess of some metabolic products - bilirubin, urea, cholesterol, as well as endogenous metabolites, responsible for the development of endogenous toxicosis. It weakly adsorbs acids and alkalis (including salts iron, cyanide, methanol, ethylene glycol). Does not irritate the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract.

Pharmacokinetics:It is not absorbed, does not split, is released completely through the gastrointestinal tract within 24 hours.
    Indications:

Exogenous and endogenous intoxications of various origin (as a detoxifier). Food toxic infections, dysentery, salmonellosis (with complex treatment). Poisoning with drugs (psychotropic, hypnotic, narcotic drugs, etc.), alkaloids, heavy metal salts and other poisons. Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, accompanied by dyspepsia and flatulence. Food and drug allergy. Hyperbilirubinemia (viral hepatitis and other jaundice) and hyperazotemia (renal failure). To reduce gassing in the intestine before ultrasound and radiographic studies. With the goal of preventing chronic intoxication in harmful production.

    Contraindications:

Increased individual sensitivity, ulcerative lesions of the gastrointestinal tract (including peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer, ulcerative colitis), bleeding from the gastrointestinal tract, simultaneous administration of antitoxic drugs, the effect of which develops after absorption (including methionine), intestinal atony. Children under 3 years.

    Carefully:

Patients with diabetes mellitus and people on a diet with a reduced carbohydrate content.

    Pregnancy and lactation:

Taking the drug during pregnancy and during breastfeeding is possible on the recommendation of a doctor.

    Dosing and Administration:

Is taken orally, in tablets or in the form of an aqueous suspension of crushed tablets, 1-2 hours before or after eating and taking other medicines. The necessary amount of tablets is stirred in 100 ml (1/2 cup) of cooled boiled water.

    Adults - 1-2 g 3-4 times a day. The maximum single dose to 8 g.

Children are prescribed at the rate of 0.05 g / kg body weight 3 times a day. The maximum single dose to 0.2 g / kg body weight.

The course of treatment for acute diseases is 3-3 days, with allergies and chronic diseases - up to 14 days. Repeated course - 2 weeks after the doctor's recommendation.

In acute poisoning, treatment begins with gastric lavage using activated carbon suspension, then give inside 20-30 g of the drug.

At a meteorism appoint or nominate inside 1-2 g of a preparation 3-4 times a day. The course of treatment is 3-7 days.

    Side effects:

Dyspepsia, constipation or diarrhea, staining the stools in a dark color. With prolonged use (more than 14 days), it is possible to reduce the absorption of vitamins, calcium and other nutrients from the gastrointestinal tract.

    Overdose:

Cases of overdose have not been identified.

Interaction:Reduces the absorption and effectiveness of concomitant medications.
    Special instructions:

When treating intoxication, it is necessary to create an excess of activated charcoal in the stomach (before it is washed) in the intestine (after washing the stomach). Reducing the concentration of activated carbon in the medium contributes to the desorption of the bound substance and its absorption (to prevent the resorption of the released substance, it is recommended to rinse the stomach and prescribe activated charcoal). The presence of food masses in the gastrointestinal tract requires the introduction of coal in high doses, as the contents of the gastrointestinal tract are sorbed by coal and its activity decreases. If the poisoning is caused by substances involved in enterohepatic circulation (cardiac glycosides, indomethacin, morphine and other opioids), it is necessary to apply Activated carbon within a few days. When using drugs for more than 10-14 days, preventive administration of calcium preparations is necessary.

Effect on the ability to drive transp. cf. and fur:

Does not affect the ability to drive a vehicle and engage in other potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration.
