Included in the list (Order of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 2782-r of 30.12.2014):VED
АТХ:D.08.A.X.01 Hydrogen Peroxide
Pharmacodynamics:Hydrogen peroxide is an antiseptic from the group of oxidants. At the same time it is hemostatic. Upon contact of hydrogen peroxide with the wound surface, excessive foaming occurs as a result of the formation of active oxygen. Due to gas bubbles rising outside, there is a mechanical cleaning of the wound from various polluting particles, small foreign bodies, blood clots. Under the influence of the oxidant, the blood and pus proteins are destroyed and washed out of the wound. Due to foaming, thrombus formation and stopping of bleeding from small vessels occurs.
Pharmacokinetics:No data.
Indications:For rinses with stomatitis, tonsillitis, tonsillitis, for treatment of purulent wounds, flushing with gynecological diseases.
To disinfect and stop bleeding small superficial wounds, nosebleeds.
X.J00-J06.J02 Acute pharyngitis
X.J00-J06.J03 Acute tonsillitis
X.J30-J39.J31 Chronic rhinitis, nasopharyngitis and pharyngitis
XI.K00-K14.K05.1 Chronic gingivitis
XI.K00-K14.K12 Stomatitis and related lesions
XIX.T08-T14.T14.1 Open wound of unspecified area of the body
Contraindications:Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Carefully:- Decompensated diseases of the liver and kidneys.
- Hyperthyroidism
- Herpetiform dermatitis
Pregnancy and lactation:Use in pregnancy and during breastfeeding is used if the intended benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus and the baby.
Dosing and Administration:For external application, treatment of the skin and wound surfaces, a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution is used.
For rinsing of the mouth and throat, treatment of mucous membranes using a 0.25% solution of hydrogen peroxide (diluted with water 3% solution in a ratio of 1:11).
Damaged areas of the skin or mucous membrane are treated with a cotton swab soaked in hydrogen peroxide with a cotton or gauze pad clamped in tweezers. The wound is treated by spraying the wound surface several times.
Side effects:- Allergic reactions
- Burning sensation at the time of wound treatment
Overdose:Symptoms: possible at high concentrations of hydrogen peroxide, manifested as irritation of the upper respiratory tract, burns of the mucous membranes of the mouth and throat, laryngospasm, bronchospasm. If high concentrations come in, irritation of the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract, hemolysis, hemoglobinuria is possible. The lethal dose of hydrogen peroxide is 3 g.
Treatment: gastric lavage with a 0.5% solution of sodium thiosulfate, sodium bicarbonate. Intravenously injected 30% solution of sodium thiosulfate (up to 300 ml).
Interaction:Hydrogen peroxide collapses and loses its effectiveness in the alkaline environment, when interacting with heavy metal salts, with the complex radicals of some oxidants.
Special instructions:Hydrogen peroxide is destroyed by light and heat, so it is necessary to ensure optimal storage conditions for the solution.
The drug is not used for occlusive dressings, it is not used for irrigation of cavities.
In case of contact with eyes, rinse them thoroughly with lukewarm water.
The antiseptic action of hydrogen peroxide is not sterilizing, so treatment of the wound with peroxide solution does not prevent tetanus or other wound infection
In toxicological practice, a 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide is used internally in combination with a 3% solution of acetic acid as an antidote for potassium permanganate poisoning.
