Antimicrobial bacteriostatic agent, sulfanilamide. The mechanism of action is due to competitive antagonism with para-aminobenzoic acid, inhibition of dihydropteroate synthetase, a violation of the synthesis of tetrahydrofolic acid necessary for the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines.

Active against gram-positive and gram-negative cocci, Escherichia coli, Shigella spp., Vibrio cholerae, Clostridium perfringens, Bacillus anthracis, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Yersinia pestis, Chlamydia spp., Actinomyces israelii, Toxoplasma gondii.

Pharmacokinetics:Penetrates the tissues and fluid eyes. Absorbed into the systemic bloodstream through an inflamed conjunctiva.

Indications:Conjunctivitis, blepharitis, purulent corneal ulcer, prevention and treatment of blenarus in newborns, gonorrhea and chlamydial eye diseases in adults.

Contraindications:Individual sensitivity to the components of the drug.

Dosing and Administration:Bury in a conjunctival bag for 1-2 drops 5-6 times a day. For the prevention of blennery, newborns are instilled with 1 drop of solution in each eye three times with an interval of 10 minutes.

Side effects:Burning, lacrimation, itching, itching in the eyes, allergic reactions.

Interaction:The combined use with procaine and tetracaine reduces the bacteriostatic effect.Incompatible with the salts of silver.

Special instructions:Patients who are hypersensitive to furosemide, thiazide diuretics, sulfonyl urea or inhibitors of carbonic anhydrase may have increased sensitivity to sulfacetamide.
