    N.06.D.X.02   Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract

    Pharmacodynamics:

Ginkgo biloba extract is a herbal preparation. Improves cerebral circulation, normalizing the metabolism in cells and tissues, increases the supply of the brain with oxygen and glucose. It has antihypoxic effect, promotes accumulation of macroerges in cells. Prevents formation of free radicals and peroxide oxidation of cell membrane lipids.Normalizes mediator processes in the central nervous system: promotes the release, re-uptake and catabolism of norepinephrine, dopamine and acetylcholine, their combination with receptors. Improves the rheological properties of blood: reduces the aggregation of erythrocytes, inhibits the factor of platelet activation. Regulates vascular blood filling, stimulating the development of endothelium-dependent relaxing factor, dilates small arteries, increases the tone of veins. Has anti-edematous effect, reducing the permeability of the vascular wall both at the level of the brain and on the periphery. Has antithrombotic effect due to stabilization of platelet membranes and influence on the synthesis of prostaglandins.

Pharmacokinetics:After ingestion, it is well absorbed. It has high bioavailability (72-100%). The maximum concentration in the blood is detected after 1.5 hours, the half-life is between 3.2 and 7 hours. The relationship with plasma proteins is different for different terpenoctoids: 43% for ginkolide A, 47% for ginkolide B, 67% for bilobalide. The drug is low toxicity.
