Pharmacodynamics:

Ascorbic acid plays an important role in the regulation of redox processes, carbohydrate metabolism, blood clotting processes, tissue regeneration, and improves the body's resistance to infections.

Dextrose (glucose) is involved in various metabolic processes in the body.

Indications:

Prevention and treatment of hypo- and avitaminosis (scurvy). Providing increased body requirement in vitamin C during growth, pregnancy, lactation, with intense physical and mental stress, fatigue, stressful conditions, during recovery from long-term serious illnesses.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the drug. Do not administer large doses to patients with increased blood coagulability, thrombophlebitis and a tendency to thrombosis; with diabetes and conditions accompanied by high blood glucose. Contraindicated in children up to 3 years.

Dosing and Administration:

The drug is taken orally after a meal.

For prophylactic purposes, adults 1/2 (50 mg) -1 (100 mg) tablet, children 1/2 (50 mg) tablets per day.

For therapeutic purposes, adults 4-5 tablets a day, children 1-3 tablets a day.

The timing of treatment depends on the nature and course of the disease.

In pregnancy and during lactation, 3 tablets a day for 10-15 days, then 1 tablet a day.

Side effects:

With prolonged use in large doses, it is possible to develop allergic reactions, hypervitaminosis, it is possible that the pancreas, digestive tract (heartburn, diarrhea) and urinary system, formation of urinary, cystine and oxalate stones are not excluded. Prolonged use of dextrose (glucose) in large doses can cause hypervitaminosis C.

Interaction:

Absorption of ascorbic acid decreases with the simultaneous use of oral contraceptives. Ascorbic acid increases the absorption of penicillin, iron, reduces the effect of heparin, indirect anticoagulants, increases the risk of crystalluria in the treatment of salicylates.

Special instructions:

In connection with the stimulating effect of ascorbic acid on the synthesis of corticosteroid hormones in the treatment of large doses, it is necessary to monitor the kidney function and arterial pressure.

With long-term use of large doses of ascorbic acid (more than 1 g), oppression of the insulin function of the pancreas is possible, so it is necessary to regularly monitor the functional capacity of the pancreas.
