Licorice roots - instructions for use, dose, side effects, contraindications

The powder is yellowish with numerous brown impregnations, passing through a sieve with holes 2 mm in size. The smell is absent. The taste of the water extract is sweet, slightly irritating.

Pharmacodynamics:

Licorice roots contain glycyrrhizic acid, licurazide, liquidoritoside, flavonoids, mucous and other biologically active substances.

Infusion of licorice roots has an expectorant and anti-inflammatory effect.

Indications:

In the complex therapy of infectious-inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract (mainly in the presence of poorly separated,thick and viscous secretion); in complex therapy for chronic inflammatory diseases of the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract (hyperacid gastritis, peptic ulcer and duodenal ulcer

guts.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the drug, pregnancy, the period of breastfeeding, bronchial asthma, children under 1 year.

Dosing and Administration:

2 filter packs (4.0 g) are placed in a glass or enamel ware, pour 100 ml (1/2 cup) of boiling water, cover with a lid and insist for 15 minutes. Filter packs are squeezed, the volume of the obtained infusion is brought to boiling water to 100 ml.

Adults and children over 12 years are prescribed inside 1 tablespoon 3-4 times a day. Children from 1 year to 3 years - 1 teaspoon 2-3 times a day, 3 to 5 years - 1 dessert spoon 2-3 times a day, 5 to 12 years - 1 dessert spoon 3-4 times in a day.

The course of treatment is 2-3 weeks.

Before use, the infusion is recommended to be shaken.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions are possible; in some cases, there may be dyspepsia (diarrhea). With prolonged use, hypokalemia, increased arterial pressure, the appearance of peripheral edema due to disturbed water-salt metabolism are possible.

Interaction with other drugs

The drug can be administered concomitantly with other drugs used in the treatment of bronchopulmonary diseases.

Do not use simultaneously with drugs containing codeine and other antitussive medicines, as this makes it difficult to cough up thinned phlegm.

Special instructions:

The intake of the drug does not affect the ability to carry out potentially dangerous activities requiring special attention and quick reactions (driving and other vehicles, working with moving mechanisms, dispatcher and operator work, etc.).
