The drug has an expectorant effect, primarily due to the presence of glycyrrhizin, which enhances the secretory function of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract.

Indications:

It is used in adults and children as an expectorant for diseases of the upper respiratory tract, accompanied by cough, mainly in the presence of difficult to separate, thick and viscous secretions (especially in children and the elderly).

Contraindications:

Increased individual sensitivity to drug components, sugar / isomaltase deficiency, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, pregnancy, breastfeeding period, bronchial asthma, gastritis, gastric and duodenal peptic ulcer during exacerbation.

Carefully:

liver diseases, alcoholism, traumatic brain injury, brain diseases, diabetes, children's age.

Dosing and Administration:

Inside adults and children over 12 years old, 1 teaspoon, previously diluted in 1/2 cups of water, 3 times a day.

Children under 2 years - 1-2 drops (previously diluted in 1 teaspoon of water) 3 times a day.

Children from 2 to 6 years - 2-10 drops (previously diluted in 1 teaspoon of water) 3 times a day.

Children from 6 to 12 years, 50 drops (previously diluted in 1/2 cups of water) 3 times a day.

The course of treatment is 7-10 days. The expediency of conducting a second course of treatment is determined by the doctor.

If there is difficult to separate sputum, an abundant warm drink is recommended to facilitate expectoration.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions are possible; in some cases, there may be dyspepsia (diarrhea).With prolonged use, hypokalemia, increased arterial pressure, the appearance of peripheral edema due to disturbed water-electrolyte metabolism are possible.

Overdose:

When using the drug in doses exceeding the recommended dose, it is possible to increase dose-related side effects. Treatment: symptomatic.

Interaction:

The drug can be administered concomitantly with other drugs used in the treatment of bronchopulmonary diseases.

Do not use simultaneously with drugs containing codeine and other anti-cough medicines, as this makes it difficult to cough up thinned phlegm.

Special instructions:

Information for patients with diabetes: 1 teaspoon of the drug contains 0.11 bread units (XE), in 1 drop - 0.01 XE.

The maximum single dose of the drug for adults contains 0.49 grams of absolute alcohol, for children under 2 years - 0.006 grams, for children from 2 to 6 years - 0.03 grams, for children from 6 to 12 years - 0.14 g; the maximum daily intake for adults is 1.48 grams of absolute alcohol, for children under 2 years it is 0.02 g, for children from 2 to 6 years 0.08 g, for children from 6 to 12 years 0.42 g.
