The mechanism of action caused by a competitive antagonism with para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) and inhibition digidropteroatsintetazy, which disrupts the synthesis of dihydrofolate and then tetrahydrofolic acid and as a result - to disruption synthesis of nucleic acids of microorganisms.

Activity is manifested in gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms: Escherichia coli, Shigella spp., Vibrio cholera, Clostridium perfringens, Bacillus anthracis, Corynebacterium diphtheria, Yersinia pestis, Chlamydia spp., Actinomyces israelii, Toxoplasma gondii.

Indications:

As part of complex therapy: purulent wounds, infected burns (I-II step) and other purulent-inflammatory processes of the skin.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to sulfonamides, hematopoietic system disease, inhibition of bone marrow hematopoiesis, anemia, chronic heart failure, hyperthyroidism, renal / hepatic insufficiency, azotemia, porphyria, congenital deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, pregnancy, breast-feeding.

Carefully:

Application to children under 3 years.

Pregnancy and lactation:

The drug is contraindicated in pregnancy and during breastfeeding.

Dosing and Administration:

External, applied directly to the affected surface (in the form of powder for external use); Dressings are carried out after 1-2 days.

At deep wounds, 5-10-15 g of powder are applied to the wound cavity for external use.

Maximum doses for adults: single dose - 5 g, daily dose - 15 g.

Children over 3 years old - single and daily dose - 300 mg.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions are possible, the development of which requires immediate discontinuation of the drug. In addition, possible: headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, cyanosis, leukopenia, agranulocytosis, crystalluria.

If any of the side effects indicated in the manual are aggravated, or any other side effects not indicated in the instructions were noticed, you should immediately consult your doctor.

Overdose:

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, intestinal colic, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, depression, syncope, confusion, visual impairment, fever, hematuria, crystalluria; with prolonged overdose of thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, megaloblastic anemia, jaundice.

Treatment: drink abundantly; with accidental ingestion - gastric lavage.

Interaction:

Myelotoxic drugs increase the manifestation of hematoxicity of the drug.

Special instructions:

During therapy, an abundant alkaline drink is recommended.

If necessary, concomitantly prescribe antimicrobials inwards.

With prolonged treatment, systematic monitoring of the blood picture, kidney and liver function is recommended.
