Antimicrobial bacteriostatic agent, sulfanilamide. The mechanism of action is due to competitive antagonism with para-aminobenzoic acid, inhibition of dihydropteroate synthetase, a violation of the synthesis of tetrahydrofolic acid necessary for the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines. It is active against gram-positive and gram-negative cocci, Escherichia coli, Shigella spp.,Vibrio cholerae, Clostridium perfringens, Bacillus anthracis, Corynebacterium diphtheria, Yersinia pestis, Chlamydia spp., Actinomyces istraelii, Toxoplasma gondii.

Indications:

As part of complex therapy: purulent wounds, infected burns (I-II etc.) and other purulent-inflammatory processes of the skin.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to sulfonamides, diseases of the hematopoietic system, oppression of bone marrow hematopoiesis, anemia, chronic heart failure, thyrotoxicosis, renal-hepatic insufficiency, azotemia, porphyria, congenital deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, pregnancy, breast-feeding period.

Pregnancy and lactation:

Contraindicated.

Dosing and Administration:

Outwardly.

The ointment is applied directly to the affected surface of the skin or to a gauze napkin; dressing produced after 1-2 days.The course of treatment is 10-14 days.

If there is no improvement within 10-14 days, you should consult a doctor. Use the drug only according to the method of administration and the doses specified in the instructions. If necessary, please consult with your doctor before using the medication.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions; with prolonged use of large doses - a systemic action: headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, cyanosis, crystalluria.

If any of the side effects listed in the manual are aggravated, or if you notice any other side effects not listed in the instructions, report it the doctor.

Overdose:

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, intestinal colic, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, depression, fainting, confusion, visual impairment, fever, hematuria, crystalluria; with prolonged overdose - thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, megaloblastic anemia, jaundice. Treatment: abundant drink; with accidental ingestion - gastric lavage; symptomatic therapy.

Interaction:

Myelotoxic drugs increase the manifestation of hematotoxicity of the drug.

If you are taking other medications (including over-the-counter drugs) before using Streptocid, consult a doctor.

Special instructions:

Premature termination of treatment with the drug may promote the development of resistant strains of microorganisms to sulfanilamides.

During therapy, an abundant alkaline drink is recommended.

If necessary, concomitantly prescribe antimicrobials inwards. When developing allergic reactions, it is necessary to cancel the drug and prescribe the appropriate treatment.
