Streptocide - instructions for use, dose, side effects, contraindications

Antimicrobial bacteriostatic agent, sulfanilamide. The mechanism of action is due to competitive antagonism with para-aminobenzoic acid, inhibition of dihydropteroate synthetase, a violation of the synthesis of tetrahydrofolic acid necessary for the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines.

It is active against gram-positive and gram-negative cocci, Escherichia coli, Shigella spp. Vibrio cholerae, Clostridium perfringens, Bacillus anthracis, Corynebacterium diphtheriae. Yersinia pestis, Chlamydia spp., Actinomyces israelii, Toxoplasma gondii.

Indications:

As part of complex therapy: purulent wounds, infected burns (I-II etc.) and other purulent-inflammatory processes of the skin.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to sulfonamides, diseases of the hematopoietic system, oppression of bone marrow hematopoiesis, anemia, chronic heart failure, thyrotoxicosis, renal-hepatic insufficiency, azotemia, porphyria, congenital deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, pregnancy, breast-feeding period.

Dosing and Administration:Outwardly.

The ointment is applied directly to the affected surface of the skin or to a gauze napkin; dressing produced after 1-2 days. A course of treatment 10-14 days.

Side effects:Allergic reactions; with prolonged use of large doses - a systemic action: headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, cyanosis, crystalluria.

If any of the side effects listed in the manual are aggravated, or if you notice any other side effects not listed in the instructions, tell your doctor.

Overdose:

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, intestinal colic, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, depression, syncope, confusion, visual impairment, fever, hematuria, crystalluria; with prolonged overdose of thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, megaloblastic anemia, jaundice.

Treatment: abundant drinking; with accidental ingestion - gastric lavage; symptomatic therapy.

Interaction:

Myelotoxic drugs increase the manifestation of hematotoxicity of the drug.

Special instructions:

Premature termination of treatment with the drug may promote the development of resistant strains of microorganisms to sulfanilamides.

If necessary, concomitantly prescribe antimicrobials inwards.

When developing allergic reactions, it is necessary to cancel the drug and prescribe the appropriate treatment.

During therapy, an abundant alkaline drink is recommended.
