Ascorbic acid reduces the pH of the vagina, inhibiting the growth of bacteria, and helps restore and maintain normal pH and vaginal flora (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus gasseri).

Thus, with a decrease in the pH of the vagina for several days, there is a pronounced suppression of the growth of anaerobic bacteria, as well as the restoration of normal flora (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactobacillus gasseri).

Pharmacokinetics:

In the systemic circulation is found in a small amount, is excreted through the kidneys.

Indications:

Chronic or recurrent vaginitis (bacterial vaginosis, unspecific vaginitis) due to anaerobic flora (due to altered vaginal pH).
To normalize the damaged microflora of the vagina.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to any of the components;
Candidiasis vulvovaginitis.

Pregnancy and lactation:Not contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.

Dosing and Administration:

Intravaginal. 1 vaginal tablet is injected into the vagina lying on the back with slightly bent legs 1 evening before bedtime. The course of treatment is 6 days. Repeated courses of treatment are possible.

If necessary, the course of therapy can be extended for a longer period.

Side effects:

The drug is well tolerated.

Very rarely (<1/10000) - hypersensitivity to one of the components of the drug. Rarely (<1/100, ≥ 1/1000 cases), it is possible to burn or itch in the vagina, increase mucous discharge, hyperemia, swelling of the vulva.

Overdose:

Cases of overdose are not described.

Interaction:Salicylates stimulate the process of removing vitamin C from the body. Estrogens improve the bioavailability of vitamin C. Vitamin C reduces the activity of anticoagulants.

Special instructions:

The drug does not inhibit the growth of the fungal flora of the vagina.

Interruptions in the use of Vaginorma C in connection with interclinical or menstrual bleeding are not necessary.

Vitamin C changes the picture of glucose in urine, as well as the picture of the content of transaminases, lactate dehydrogenase and bilirubin in the serum.

Such manifestations as burning and itching may be due to the presence of concomitant asymptomatic fungal infection. Therefore, if these symptoms appear, an analysis should be performed to exclude the fungal infection.
