    Pharmacodynamics:

    Anti-inflammatory drug for external use, inactivates hydroxyl radicals, improves the course of metabolic processes in the focus of inflammation. It also has local anesthetic, analgesic and antimicrobial action; has moderate fibrinolytic activity. Penetrates through the skin, mucous membranes, the shell of microbial cells (increases their sensitivity to antibiotics) and other biological membranes, increases their permeability to drugs.

    Indications:

    In the combined therapy: diseases of the musculoskeletal system: rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis (Bechterew's disease), osteoarthritis deformans (if lesions periarticular tissues), a reactive synovitis; limited scleroderma, erythema nodosum, discoid lupus erythematosus, tinea pedis, keloid scars, thrombophlebitis, alopecia, eczema, streptoderma, erysipelas, bruises, sprains, traumatic infiltrates, purulent wounds, burns, sciatica, sores, acne, abrasions; in skin and plastic surgery - preservation of skin homotransplants.

    Contraindications:Hypersensitivity, severe hepatic and / or renal failure, angina pectoris, severe atherosclerosis, glaucoma, cataract, stroke, coma, myocardial infarction, pregnancy, the period of breastfeeding.
    Dosing and Administration:

    Outwardly, in the form of appliqués and irrigation (washing). In a solution of the necessary concentration, gauze wipes are moistened and applied to the affected areas within 20-30 minutes. A polyethylene film and cotton or linen cloth are applied over the napkin. The duration of the application is 10-15 days.

    When treating erysipelas and trophic ulcers - in the form of 30-50% solution in water 50-100 ml 2-3 times a day.

    With eczema, streptodermia - compresses with 40-90% solution in water.

    For local anesthesia with pain syndromes - 25-50% solution in water in the form of compresses of 100-150 ml (depending on the treated area) 2-3 times a day.

    For the face skin and other highly sensitive areas, 10-20-30% solutions in water are used.

    In skin and plastic surgery, a 5% solution in Ringer's solution is used as a preservative medium for storing skin homotransplants.

    Less concentrated solutions produce washing of purulent-necrotic and inflammatory foci and cavities.

    Side effects:Allergic reactions, contact dermatitis, erythematous rashes, dry skin, mild burning, itching dermatitis; rarely - bronchospasm.
    Overdose:Symptoms: increased dose-related side effects. Treatment is symptomatic.
    Interaction:

    Increases absorption and enhances the action of ethanol, insulin and other medicines. Compatible with heparin, antibacterial drugs, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Increases the sensitivity of microorganisms to aminoglycoside and beta-lactam antibiotics; chloramphenicol, rifampicin, griseofulvin. It sensitizes the body to medicines for general anesthesia.

    Special instructions:

    Some patients feel the smell of garlic in the inspired air. Before using the drug, it is necessary to carry out a test for tolerance to it. For this dimethylsulfoxide the desired concentration is applied to the skin with a cotton swab soaked in it; the appearance of hyperemia and pronounced itching indicates a hypersensitivity.

    When stored at a temperature of 18 ° C or lower, the dimethyl sulfoxide crystallizes, which does not affect the quality of the preparation.To melt the crystals, you should gently warm the vial with the drug in a water bath (water temperature no higher than 60 FROM).
