Pharmacodynamics:Anti-inflammatory drug for external use, inactivates hydroxyl radicals, improves the course of metabolic processes in the focus of inflammation. It also has local anesthetic, analgesic and antimicrobial action; has moderate fibrinolytic activity. Penetrates through the skin, mucous membranes, the membrane of microbial cells (increases their sensitivity to antibiotics) and other biological membranes, increases their permeability for medicines.

Pharmacokinetics:

When applying a solution of dimethyl sulfoxide on the skin, it is found in the blood after 5 minutes, reaching a maximum concentration in 4-6 hours, while maintaining an almost unchanged level for 1.5-3 days. Dimethylsulfoxide excreted in urine and feces, both in unchanged form, and in the form of dimethylsulfone.

Indications:

As part of complex therapy: diseases of the musculoskeletal system: rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis (Bekhterev's disease), deforming osteoarthritis, reactive synovitis; limited scleroderma, erythema nodosum, discoid lupus erythematosus, foot mycoses, keloid scars, thrombophlebitis, alopecia, eczema,streptoderma, erysipelas; bruises, sprains, traumatic infiltrates; purulent wounds, burns, sciatica, trophic ulcers, acne, furunculosis, in the skin surgery - for canning of skin homotransplants.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity, severe hepatic and / or renal failure, angina, severe atherosclerosis, glaucoma, cataracts, stroke, coma, myocardial infarction, pregnancy, lactation period, children's age.

Dosing and Administration:

Less concentrated solutions produce washing of purulent-necrotic and inflammatory foci and cavities.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions, contact dermatitis, erythema, dry skin, mild burning, itchy dermatitis; rarely - bronchospasm.

Overdose:

Symptoms: increased dose-related side effects.

Treatment - symptomatic.

Interaction:

Increases absorption and enhances the effect of ethanol (alcohol inhibits the elimination of the drug), insulin (with long-term use of the drug monitor the glucose in blood plasma) and other medicines. Compatible with heparin, antibacterial agents, NSAIDs. Increases the sensitivity of microorganisms to aminoglycoside and beta-lactam antibiotics; chloramphenicol, rifampicin, griseofulvin.
