It also has local anesthetic, analgesic and antimicrobial action; has moderate fibrinolytic activity. Penetrates through the skin, mucous membranes, the shell of microbial cells (increases their sensitivity to antibiotics) and other biological membranes, increases their permeability to drugs.

Pharmacokinetics:

When applying a solution of dimethyl sulphoxide on the skin, it is found in the blood after 5 minutes, reaching a maximum concentration in 4-6 hours while maintaining an almost constant level for 1.5-3 days. Dimethylsulfoxide excreted in urine and feces, both in unchanged form, and in the form of dimethylsulfone.

Indications:

As part of complex therapy: diseases of the musculoskeletal system - rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis (Bekhterev's disease), deforming osteoarthritis (in the presence of lesions of periarticular tissues), reactive synovitis, limited scleroderma, nodal erythema, discoid lupus erythematosus, mycosis stop, keloid scars, thrombophlebitis, alopecia, eczema, streptoderma, erysipelas, bruises, sprains, traumatic infiltrates, purulent wounds, burns, sciatica, trophic ulcers, acne, furunculosis; in skin and plastic surgery - for preservation of skin homotransplants.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity, severe hepatic and / or renal failure, angina pectoris, severe atherosclerosis, glaucoma, cataract, stroke, coma, myocardial infarction, pregnancy, the period of breastfeeding.

Dosing and Administration:

As preserving medium for storage of skin homotransplants, 5% solution is used in Ringer's solution.

Less concentrated solutions produce washing of purulent-necrotic and inflammatory foci and cavities.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions, contact dermatitis, erythema, cyxskin lightness, slight burning sensation, itching dermatitis; rarely - bronchospasm.

It increases the sensitivity of microorganisms to aminoglycoside and beta-lactam antibiotics, chloramphenicol, rifampin, griseofulvin.
