    Description:

    Pieces of stems, leaves are greyish-green in color, yellow flowers of various shapes and immature fruit, passing through a sieve with holes of 7 mm.

    The smell is weak, peculiar. The taste of water extract is bitterish, slightly astringent.

    Pharmacodynamics:

    St. John's wort contains tannins, essential oil, (β-sitosterol, triterpene saponins, flavonoids, vitamins C and E, anthraquinones, macro- and microelements and other biologically active substances.

    Infusion of herb St. John's wort has an astringent, anti-inflammatory effect.

    Indications:

    Inflammatory diseases of the oral mucosa (including gingivitis, stomatitis); chronic colitis (as part of complex therapy).

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to the drug. When ingestion - pregnancy, lactation, children under 12 years.

    Dosing and Administration:

    About 10 g of grass (1.5 tablespoons) are placed in a glass or enamel ware, pour 200 ml (1 glass) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and heat in a boiling water bath with periodic stirring for 15 minutes, cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, filter, the remaining raw material is squeezed. The volume of the infusion obtained is adjusted to 200 ml with boiled water.

    Take the inside in a warm form for 1/2 cup infusion 3 times a day for 30 minutes before meals. The course of treatment is 2-3 weeks.

    For rinses, apply 1/2 cup of warm infusion 3-4 times a day. The course of treatment is 5-10 days.

    Before use, the infusion is recommended to be shaken.

    Side effects:

    Allergic reactions are possible. When ingestion - photosensitizing effect (increased sensitivity of the skin to the action of sunlight),at long application can cause unpleasant sensations in the field of a liver (in right hypochondrium) and feeling of bitterness in a mouth.

    Overdose:

    When using the drug in doses exceeding the recommended, there may be increased side effects.

    Interaction:

    With the combined use of St. John's wort with cyclosporine, warfarin. steroid drugs, antiviral agents - HIV protease inhibitors (amperinavir, indinavir, nelfinavir, ritonavir, saquinavir) may reduce their activity.

    The drug is able to enhance the photosensitizing effect of other drugs, including. tetracyclines, sulfonamides, thiazide diuretics, quinolones, piroxicam.

    Special instructions:

    During treatment should refrain from prolonged exposure to the sun, from visiting the solarium.
