    Description:

    A mixture of pieces of leaves, stems, flowers and unripe fruits of St. John's wort various forms of a greenish-brown color with interspersed greyish-green, light brown, brown, yellow, tan, whitish, purple-violet. The smell is weak, peculiar. The taste of water extract is bitterish, slightly astringent.

    Pharmacodynamics:

    The herb of St. John's wort contains tannins, essential oil, triterpene saponins, vitamins C, E, flavonoids, anthraquinones,macro- and microelements and other biologically active substances.

    Infusion of herb St. John's wort has an astringent, anti-inflammatory effect.

    Indications:

    Inflammatory diseases of the mucous membrane of the mouth and throat (gingivitis, stomatitis, etc.); chronic colitis (as part of complex therapy).

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to the drug. When ingestion - pregnancy, lactation, children under 12 years.

    Dosing and Administration:

    About 10 g (2 tablespoons) of raw materials are placed in enamel ware, pour 200 ml (1 glass) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and heat in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, cool at room temperature for 45 minutes, filter, the remaining raw material is squeezed. The volume of the infusion obtained is adjusted to 200 ml with boiled water.

    Take inside 1/2 cup 3 times a day for 30 minutes before meals. The course of treatment is 2-3 weeks. For rinses, apply 1/2 cup infusion 3-4 times a day. The course of treatment is 5 - 10 days. Before use, the infusion is recommended to be shaken.

    Side effects:Allergic reactions are possible. With prolonged use can cause unpleasant sensations in the liver and a feeling of bitterness in the mouth,in some cases, when taken orally - photosensitizing effect (increased sensitivity of the skin to the action of sunlight).
    Interaction:

    With the combined use of St. John's Wort preparations with cyclosporine, warfarin, steroid preparations, antiviral agents - reverse transcriptase inhibitors (amprenavir, indinavir, efavirenz, nevirapine, nelfinavir, ritonavir, saquinavir); inhibitors of the activity of proteolytic enzymes may reduce their effectiveness.
