    Composition:

    Description:Ground raw materials. Pieces of stems, leaves (greyish-green), flowers (yellow) of various shapes and unripe fruits. The smell is weak, peculiar. The taste of the water extract is bitterish-spicy, slightly astringent.

    Pharmacodynamics:

    The herb of St. John's wort contains tannic substances, essential oil, triterpene saponins, vitamins C, E, flavonoids, anthraquinones, macro- and microelements and other biologically active substances.

    Infusion of herb St. John's wort has an astringent, anti-inflammatory effect.

    Indications:

    Inflammatory diseases of the mucous membrane of the mouth and throat (gingivitis, stomatitis, etc.); chronic colitis (as part of complex therapy).

    Contraindications:

    Hypersensitivity to the drug. When ingestion - pregnancy, lactation, children under 12 years.

    Dosing and Administration:

    10 g (2 tablespoons) of St. John's Wort herbs are placed in enamel ware, poured into 200 ml (1 glass) of hot boiled water, covered with a lid and heated in a boiling water bath for 15 minutes, cooled at room temperature for 45 minutes, filtered, the remaining raw material is squeezed . The volume of the infusion obtained is adjusted to 200 ml with boiled water. Take inside 1/2 cup 3 times a day for 30 minutes before meals. The course of treatment is 2-3 weeks.

    For rinses, apply 1/2 cup infusion 3-4 times a day. The course of treatment is 5-10 days.

    Before use, the infusion is recommended to be shaken.

    Side effects:

    Allergic reactions are possible. With prolonged use, it can cause unpleasant sensations in the liver and a feeling of bitterness in the mouth, in some cases with ingestion - a photosensitizing effect (increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight).

    Interaction:

    With the combined use of St. John's Wort preparations with cyclosporine, warfarin, steroid preparations, antiviral agents - reverse transcriptase inhibitors (amprenavir, indinavir, nevirapine, nelfinavir, ritonavir, saquinavir); inhibitors of the activity of proteolytic enzymes may reduce their effectiveness.

    The drug is able to enhance the photosensitizing effect of other drugs: tetracyclines, sulfonamides, thiazide diuretics, quinolones, piroxicam, etc.
