Excipients: Benzalkonium chloride in terms of 100% substance 0.15 mg, eucalyptus oil 1 mg, disodium edetate. Dihydrate 0.15 mg, propylene glycol 60 mg, macrogol 1500 50 mg, povidone 15 mg 7.5 mg hypromelose 5 mg 0.5 mg , polysorbate 20 (Tween-20) - 10 mg, sodium hydrophosphate dodecahydrate - 0.5 mg, potassium dihydrogen phosphate -1 mg, water for injection up to 1 g.

Description:Transparent, slightly yellowish liquid with a specific odor.

Pharmacodynamics:Xylometazoline belongs to the group of local vasoconstrictors (decongestants) with alpha2-adrenomimetic action, it has a rapid and sustained vasoconstrictive effect on the vessels of the mucous membrane of the cavity and nose, eliminating edema and hyperemia of the mucous membrane. Relieves nasal breathing in rhinitis. The action comes in a few minutes and lasts for several hours.

Pharmacokinetics:With topical application is practically not absorbed, plasma concentrations are so small that they can not be determined by modern analytical methods.

Indications:

Relief of symptoms of acute rhinitis of different etiology, sinusitis.

Auxiliary therapy of acute otitis media (to reduce edema of the nasal mucosa).

Preparation of the patient for diagnostic manipulation (rhinoscopy).

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to any component of the drug, hypertension, tachycardia, severe atherosclerosis, glaucoma, atrophic rhinitis, transfenoid hypophysectomy or history transnasal / transoral surgical procedures with exposure of the dura mater, pregnancy, children under 6 years.

Carefully:

Patients with cardiovascular diseases, diabetes with thyroid diseases (hyperthyroidism), patients who develop strong reactions with adrenergic drugs, appear in the form of insomnia, dizziness, tremor, cardiac arrhythmia, a tendency to increase arterial pressure, with prostatic hyperplasia, women during lactation.

Pregnancy and lactation:

The drug should not be used during pregnancy.

It is not known whether, xylometazoline with breast milk, so women, who can breast-feed, it is possible to apply the drug only when, in the opinion of the doctor, the expected benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk for the child.

Dosing and Administration:

It is applied intranasally.Adults and children over 6 years of age for 1 injection in. each nasal passage 3-4 times a day. The course of treatment depends on the course of the disease and should not exceed 5-7 consecutive days. After the end of the course of treatment, the drug can be administered again only after a few days.

Side effects:With frequent and / or long-term use - irritation and / or dryness of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx, burning and paresthesia of the nasal mucosa, sneezing, hypersecretion of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity; edema of the nasal mucosa, palpitation, tachycardia, arrhythmias, increased blood pressure, headache, vomiting, insomnia, impaired vision; depression.

Overdose:Symptoms: decreased body temperature, bradycardia, increased blood pressure. Treatment: symptomatic.

Interaction:Xylometazoline interacts with other drugs only in the presence of a resorptive effect. Other adrenomimetics can enhance the effect of xylometazoline. Adrenoblockers and sympatholytics, blockers, "slow" calcium channels weaken its effect. The drug enhances the hypertensive effect of tricyclic antidepressants and inhibitorsmonoamine oxidase.

Special instructions:

The drug should not be used continuously during long-term periods (more 7 days in a row);

Do not follow recommended doses of the drug, especially when treating children and old people.

Effect on the ability to drive transp. cf. and fur:Use with caution when driving vehicles or performing other types of work that need concentration with attention to fast psychomotor reactions.
