Pharmacodynamics:

Xylometazoline belongs to the group of local vasoconstrictors (decongestants) with alpha-adrenomimetic activity, causes narrowing of the blood vessels of the nasal membranes, thus eliminating the edema and hyperemia of the nasal mucosa, restoring the nasal passages, facilitating nasal breathing.

The effect of the drug comes in a few minutes after its application and lasts up to 10 hours.

Pharmacokinetics:

With topical application, the drug is practically not absorbed, therefore its concentration in the blood plasma is very small (it is not determined by modern analytical methods).

Indications:

Applied in acute respiratory diseases with the phenomena of rhinitis (rhinitis), acute allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, with average otitis (as part of a combination therapy to reduce edema of the nasopharyngeal mucosa), to facilitate the conduct of a rhinoscopy.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to xylometazoline and other components of the drug, hypertension, tachycardia, severe atherosclerosis, glaucoma,atrophic rhinitis, surgical interventions on the meninges (in the anamnesis), pregnancy, lactation, children under 6 years of age - for 0.1% solution (0.001 g / ml).

Carefully:Ischemic heart disease (angina pectoris), diabetes mellitus, prostatic hyperplasia, hyperthyroidism, children under 2 years old - for 0.05% solution (0.0005 g / ml).

Dosing and Administration:

Adults and children over 6 years of age are given 1-2 drops of 0.1% xylometazoline solution in each nasal passage 2-3 times a day.

For infants and children under 6 years of age, a 0.05% solution is used, 1-2 drops per each nasal passage 1-2 times a day. Do not use the drug more than 3 times a day and not more than 3-5 days.

Do not apply the drug without interruption for more than 3-5 days.

Side effects:

With frequent and / or prolonged use - irritation and / or dryness of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx, burning, parasthesia, sneezing, hypersecretion; rarely - mucosal edema nasal congestion, vomiting, headache, palpitation, increased blood pressure, tachycardia, arrhythmia, insomnia, visual impairment, depression (with prolonged use of high doses).

Overdose:

Symptoms: increased side effects.

Treatment: symptomatic under the supervision of a doctor.

Interaction:

Incompatible with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO) and tricyclic antidepressants.

Special instructions:

Before application, it is necessary to clean the nasal passages.

Do not use for a long time, for example, with chronic rhinitis. Missing dose: use immediately for 1 hour, do not use after 1 hour; Do not double the dose.

Effect on the ability to drive transp. cf. and fur:Xylometabrasine, in dosages exceeding the recommended levels, can affect the ability to drive a vehicle and engage in other potentially hazardous activities that require concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Nasal drops 0.0005 g / ml (0.05%) and 0.001 g / ml (0.1%).

Packaging:
