Composition per ml: active substance: xylometazoline hydrochloride - 0.5 mg or 1.0 mg; Excipients: benzalkonium chloride 0.15 mg, disodium edetate dihydrate (Trilon B) 0.5 mg, sodium hydrogen phosphate dodecahydrate 7.13 mg, potassium dihydrogen phosphate 3.63 mg, sodium chloride 9.0 mg, purified water - up to 1 ml.

Pharmacodynamics:

Xylometazoline belongs to the group of local vasoconstrictors (decongestants) with α2-adrenomimetic action. Has a rapid, pronounced and prolonged vasoconstrictive action against the vessels of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, thus eliminating its swelling and flushing. Relieves nasal breathing in rhinitis.

In therapeutic concentrations, it does not irritate the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, does not cause hyperemia. The action comes in a few minutes and lasts for 10-12 hours.

Pharmacokinetics:

When topical application is almost not absorbed,
concentrations in the plasma are so small that they can not be determined by modern analytical methods.

Indications:

Acute respiratory diseases with phenomena of rhinitis (rhinitis), acute allergic rhinitis, pollinosis, sinusitis, eustachitis, otitis media (to reduce edema of the nasopharyngeal mucosa).

Preparation of the patient for diagnostic manipulation in the nasal passages.

Contraindications:

- Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug,

- arterial hypertension,

- tachycardia,

- severe atherosclerosis,

- glaucoma,

- atrophic rhinitis,

- hyperthyroidism,

- surgical interventions on the meninges (in the anamnesis),

- children under 2 years of age (for a solution with a concentration of 0.05%),

- children's age to 6 years (for a solution with a concentration of 0.1%),

- pregnancy.

Carefully:

With diabetes, prostatic hyperplasia, ischemic heart disease (angina pectoris).

Pregnancy and lactation:

Contraindicated use of the drug during pregnancy.

Possible application for the treatment of nursing mothers as prescribed by the attending physician, if the expected therapeutic effect of the mother exceeds the risk of development of possible side effects in the child.

Dosing and Administration:

Intranasally (in each nasal passage).

Solution of the drug concentration of 0.05%: children - from 2 to 6 years - one injection in each nasal passage 1-2 times a day; Do not use more than 3 times a day.

0.1% solution of the drug: adults and children over 6 years - one injection in each nasal passage (if necessary, repeat); Do not use more than 3 times a day. The drug is applied no more than 7 days.

Side effects:

With frequent and / or prolonged use - irritation and / or dryness of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx, burning, tingling, sneezing, hypersecretion; edema of the nasal mucosa, palpitation,tachycardia, arrhythmia, hypertension, headache, vomiting, insomnia, visual disturbances, depression (with prolonged use of high doses).

If the above symptoms occur, discontinue use and consult a doctor.

Overdose:

Decreased body temperature, bradycardia, increased blood pressure.

Treatment: symptomatic

Interaction:

Do not use simultaneously with monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.

Special instructions:

Do not exceed the recommended dose and apply the drug for a long (more than 7 days) time.

In case of colds, in cases where crusts form in the nose, it is preferable to prescribe in the form of a gel.

Effect on the ability to drive transp. cf. and fur:

Xylometazoline, in doses higher than recommended, may affect the ability to drive vehicles or equipment.

In drug treatment, caution should be exercised when driving and busy with other potentially hazardous activities that require high concentration and speed of psychomotor actions.

Spray nasal 0.05 %, 0,1 %.

Packaging:

For 10, 15 ml in polymer bottles-droppers complete with a tube, hermetically sealed polymeric plugs-droppers and caps screwed.
